Letter from The Principal
Dear Parents/Guardians:
Greetings! My name is Michael Johnson, and it is with great excitement and enthusiasm to introduce myself to you as Principal of Dr. Charles Drew Academy. Previously, I worked as an Assistant Principal at Adams Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math Academy in Ypsilanti. In addition, I have served on boards of other charter schools and churches.
Please know that I am committed to creating a culture that challenges your child academically and will prepare them for a life of independency after their time here at Drew Academy. It is my sincere goal to raise the standard of excellence so that OUR expectations are not only met, but also exceeded.
I am honored to be serving as Principal of Dr. Charles Drew Academy, and I look forward to cultivating a relationship with each family as we partner together to encourage the children to learn in a warm and loving environment that promotes academic excellence. A walk across Dr. Charles Drew Academy is an unforgettable experience. We are a tuition free charter school; authorized by Central Michigan University.
We are challenging students to reach their academic and social potentials we strive to provide students with a developmentally appropriate education which emphasizes high academic and social expectations for all students; the opportunities, resources and environment necessary to be lifelong learners; the skills and encouragement needed to be productive, responsible citizens in a changing, global society, and the support required to develop a healthy self-concept leading to sound judgment and appropriate, ethical decision making
