It's been a while, mommy is a slacker.
Ok so I haven't been keeping this updated as much as I'd like. Truth is I have been pretty busy. I was working from home for 3 weeks but that is soon coming to an end. I head back to the office on Monday and am totally NOT looking forward to it. Partially I don't want to leave Delilah, I am starting to think that I am going to miss everything :( the first crawl, first step, first word. A little depressing to think about. I am also not stoked about paying $200 a week for child care. UGH. In other great news we are getting bonuses at work :) At least two for sure so that's pretty great.
Luther and I weighed Delilah on our scale yesterday, according to it she weighs 12.5 lbs meaning she has gained a pound in just 3 weeks. This is good :) She has the cutest little thunder thighs! Her next visit isn't until January when she is 4 months old so I don't have anything new to tell you in regards to that.
This will be our first Christmas as a family. Next year will be more fun when she can open her own presents but I am still excited about this one. She already went to see santa and I had us take a family photo to include on our Christmas card this year. I will send those out soon, don't worry :) She really does get cuter everyday.
Justin, my brother, is supposed to be coming to visit soon. I can't wait for him to meet his niece. I think he would make a good father, but he's gotta find the right girl first. He has time but in the meantime he can practice with Delilah. She totally has his animated eyebrows so that will be fun to see them together lol. Jason said he might be able to come sometime in January. I hope he does, I dont want him to miss her being so little. My brothers are great. I really wish we all lived closer together. Regardless that we fought a lot when we were younger I know now that I have the best brothers in the world and wouldn't trade them for anyone else. We watch each others back and are there for each other whenever we can be. I really miss them a lot.
Two month visit :)
Delilah got her shots today, she cried, I didn't!
She weighs 11lbs 9oz and is 23 inches long meaning she gained just under 4 lbs since her two week visit and grew 3 inches since birth!
Yesterday and today she has been sleeping ALL day. I thought she wouldn't sleep good last night but she did so I hope that means she will still sleep tonight. We shall see :)
I went to the La Leche League meeting today, then went to the doctors appointment, then went to the Children's Consignment sale. I bought a few outfits because they were too cute and a small swing. I hope she likes this one since she doesn't like her big swing. Also in other news, she has started kind of taking a pacifier since our car ride back from St. Augustine. I have used it a few times to soothe her and while she does scream louder when I first give it to her she calms down and begins to suck, then drifts off to dreamland <3
Not too shabby
Everyone kept telling me the first 6 weeks are the hardest so in my mind things were supposed to do a complete 180 on that day! To my surprise, they kind of were :) For the past week she is sleeping pretty good at night. Day before yesterday she slept for 9 straight hours! and 2 days before that she slept 7 straight hours. Last night was ok, she slept for 6.5 hours then another 3 after I got up to feed her. She seems alot less fussy during the day too.
Friday we went to the Huggies casting call. Don't know if anything will come of that but we shall see. They take the baby away from you, snap some shots, then brought her back. So I don't know if she was good for them or even smiled. I hope so, she has the CUTEST smile! I haven't heard anything so far, I know the filming is Monday through Friday next week. I am planning to go visit Mom and Grandma next Tuesday. If they call that trip will go on hold but as of now its a GO!
I got alot done yesterday. Cooking and cleaning and what not, I felt quite accomplished. I will start working from home Nov 23. Not looking forward to that but it should be a decent transition rather than going straight to work at the office. Plus its only a 3 day work week.
Here's to more nights of fantastic sleep <3
No naps for me :(
During the day she does not like to sleep apparently. Today she is only napping at 30-60 minutes increments and its quite frustrating. I tried to take a nap when she did earlier but no sooner after she fell asleep was she up again, not even giving me time to fall asleep. Luther is home today so at least I am able to pass her of when I am overly frustrated and that has helped. Part of the reason she isn't sleep long is because the boy can't be quiet to save his life! Just opening a door or making a little something in the kitchen sounds like a bomb went off when he is in there!
The past two nights however she slept for a stretch of at least 5-5.5 hours, then another 3-4 hours. I am really hoping that tonight she decides to continue this pattern. That would be spectacular! The gas does seem to be getting a little better. I have been giving her Mylicon, gripe water, teething tablets and even a few drops of peppermint tea last night. If these don't work, I don't know what will!
Massive gas!
Delilah is five weeks old but suffering from massive gas pains :( They wake her up every hour or so during the day. It makes her think she is hungry so she screams until I feed her, then it upsets her tummy even more. And the crying makes the gas worse too :( Poor thing.
Her last doctors visit was last Friday, at 4 weeks old. She weighed 9lbs 1oz meaning that she had gained 1lb 6oz in just two weeks. Her next visit isnt until she is 2 months old. Oh how the time flies!
