Southwest Chief (roomette)
May 3rd to May 15th, 2009 - Trip to visit my friend Dick Brown who lives in Louisiana, MO. From Dick's house we drove to Racine, WI to revisit childhood haunts. On the return trip, the train was late to La Plata as it was held up due to a tornado that was about ten miles south of me.

Sunset Limited (coach)
In November, 2009 Bill and I took an "all-rail" trip to San Diego and back. The Sunset Limited took us to Los Angeles where we boarded the Pacific Surfliner for San Diego. In San Diego, we hopped on the "red trolley" that took us right to the front door of the Navy Lodge. We rode the trolleys everywhere we went in San Diego. It was great fun and a memorable trip.

Empire Builder (bedroom)
August 16 to August 28, 2010 - Vicki and I boarded a Southwest flight to Seattle where we rented a car for a few days to do some sightseeing. We used the Everett Navy Lodge as the home base and went north to Anacortes Island on the ferry to catch a whale watch boat. We saw a group of Orcas up close - what a thrill ! We then headed south to Seattle and took a seaplane tour of the area which was most enjoyable. On the 19th, we boarded the Amtrak Empire Builder bound for the Wisconsin Dells to help celebrate Bill and Lil's 50th Wedding Anniversary. After a great week with the family, we flew out of Milwaukee back to Phoenix via Las Vegas.
