role playing
Here are two of our second year students acting out a scene where one says rude comments to the other. They then brainstormed solutions and acted them out, as well.

Birthday!
Here is our familiar Mrs. Kim and her daughter, Emma, talking about Emma's birthday. They brought in a time line of pictures on a scroll.

Science demo
Here is a demonstration that I did for the kids about air and evaporation. One small chalk board just sat there, one had cool air blown onto it, and one had hot air. The hair dryer has a cool setting and a hot one. The children counted the seconds to see which evaporated first. The one with hot "wind" dried quickest, then the cool "wind" and the one with no wind did not dry during the lesson.

Art and Science
These third year girls are using paints and/or oil pastels to create artworks that illustrate some scientific principals of air and wind. During the day, the land heats up faster, creating an updraft of rising air, the air over the sea rushes in, creating a Sea Breeze. At night the land cools down quicker, creating the updraft above the water and a resulting Land Breeze.

Folk Dancing with Mrs. Katy!

More dancing
Mrs. Katy brings in various instruments to play while she teaches the children traditional folk dancing. This one is particularly intricate!

money!
Here are three first year boys learning about the major four coins and how they relate to each other. The hundred pennies are laid out, then a nickle above every five pennies, then a dime above every ten, and a quarter above every 25 pennies. It is neat to see them work together to figure out where to lay the coins. These guys figured out that they could count by fives and tens with the other coins, they did not have to count pennies every time.

Scripts!
These girls are practicing lines from the upcoming play!

Division
This work is called Test Tube Division. It is a physical representation of long division. That way, when they do it abstractly, with just a pencil and paper, they will understand what it is they are doing.

Wind patterns
As the students took turns drawing "straight lines" I turned the "world". They saw how the rotation of the Earth affects the wind patterns. This was one lesson is long serious of lessons. Each lesson is short, isolates a concept, but builds upon previous lessons.

classroom clean-up
some kids have the responsibility of going out of the classroom to empty the trash, collect the trash for the other classrooms, do the composting, and take care of the outside animals (bunnies).
