Hello
My name is Rachel. I am a Girl Scout. I am a Cadette Girl Scout, which means I am 11 years old. Girl Scouting has taught me many things since I started when I was 5 years old. I like to camp in tents and in cabins. I like to kayak. I like to hike. I like to geo cache and rock climb and go white water rafting. I am a very lucky person because I have had many opportunities that most girls do not get to do in their lives. I have been to NYC with my troop and I went to Savannah GA twice with them, this year we are going to Boston, MA. In 2012 we are going to Washington DC for the 100th anniversary of Girl Scouting. Someday I hope I can go and visit our world center in Switzerland and London, but that is years away.
I worked hard to earn my Bronze award by helping out refugees that only wanted to live a free life. I am now working on my Silver award. My troop is learning to can vegetables and fruits and donating them to the food pantry, because they are healthy foods that many times the food pantries do not get donated to them. We have picked and canned strawberries, cherries, tomatoes, blueberries and apples. In three years I will be working alone on my Gold Award, but I have to get through my Silver first.
I do a lot of community service because I like to do it. I love to play with kids and teach them to read. I think we should all help people, because someday, we might need help ourselves, and how would you feel if no one helped you when you needed it? My mom says that you never know when the day will turn on you and you may be the one needing help.
Yes, I am selling cookies, but I want you to think about donating cookies to a worthy cause. We are selling cookies to donate to our troops overseas and food pantries in our area. I know cookies are not considered "healthy", but I feel very sad when I think there are kids out there that don't even get the chance to have a cookie as a treat. It also makes me feel good when the people who are fighting for our freedom get a little bit of home sent over to them. Will you help me in providing them with this treat? We like to call it Troop to Troop, ( we are a girl scout troop and they are troops overseas) The cookies are so popular over seas with our service men and woman that we cannot even write what they are on the outside of the box, because , well, they don't usually get to where we want them to go then. hahahah
Cookies are $3.50 a box or $42.00 a case. If you donate them, I am supposed to tell you that they are tax deductible. If we can get 100 people to donate a case of cookies each - that would be amazing. Now I think I should ask my mom to help me make a page like that on facebook, and make the goal 170 cases of donated cookies - WOW - ok 200 and that's my final offer !
My mom said that she would cover any fees that paypal charges me, because this is something important. So, don't worry, if you buy a case of cookies for our troops overseas, we will send 12 boxes out, that's a full case.
I think that businesses should be buying a lot of cases from me and having them shipped overseas to these people who are fighting for us, because if they didn't fight for us, and our freedom, then these people would not be able to have businesses.
I am not only a Girl Scout, but an honor student and a competitive dancer for the best studio in Western, New York, David De Marie. I dance at least 5 days a week and I love it. I've been dancing since I was three years old. That proves you can still enjoy other activities besides Girl Scouts and be good at more than one of them!
Thank You
