Bring the Kids!

This year for the very first time we will be show casing our Children's duck race.  The mini-duck race will take place just before the official KenDucky Derby.  Kids can adopt a duck for the KenDucky Derby Junior race and cheer on their ducks as they battle for awesome prizes, including a gift certificate to Chuck E. Cheese's.  While waiting for the race, kids can dance to the fun tunes being played by our DJ, bounce around in the giant castle bouncer, enjoy ice cream, and even get some fabulous tatoos!  Tickets will be sold at the adoption center starting at 9:00 A.M. We hope to see you and your little ducklings there!

KenDucky Derby Junior Ducky Adoption: $2 a Duck.  Each child who adopts a duck will get a tatoo. Every duck in the race will be a winner!

Bounce House Tickets: $2 for ten minutes

KenDucky Derby

WHAT IS A RUBBER DUCK RACE? Hundreds of brightly colored yellow ducks floating down a local waterway as people cheer their adopted ducks and hope they "swim" for prizes.

WHO IS CONDUCTING THE RACE? Swan Lake Park Civic Association — a not-for-profit group who work to better the community.

WHY ARE WE HOLDING IT? To help raise funds to maintain the community house and the community house grounds.

HOW DOES IT WORK? People donate $10 to "adopt" a duck. They receive numbered tickets matched to their ducks. On race day, we release the numbered rubber ducks into our race site Swan Lake, and the first duck to cross the downstream finish line wins the grand prize for the person who adopted it. Prizes include fabulous items from local merchants.

WHY RUBBER DUCKS? The rubber bathtub toys provide a colorful and fun focus for the event. Rubber duck races have raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for charities around the world.

WHAT HAPPENS TO THE DUCKS? Race volunteers collect the ducks after the race and save them to use again next year.

WHEN IS THE RACE BEING HELD?   Saturday, August 13, 2011 - Ducky Registration 9 AM - Race Time 12 PM.

WHERE WILL THE RACE BE HELD? The ducks will race down Swan Lake in East Patchogue

HOW CAN I ADOPT A DUCK, SPONSOR THE RACE, OR GET MORE INFORMATION? Come to a general meeting or catch us at one of our events.  Check out www.swanlakepark.shutterfly.com for more info.
