Here at the Soil & Water Conservation District, we assist landowners and agricultural producers with implementing conservation on their land through a locally-led process. We value the input of land owners, land managers, and the general public. Please let us know about your environmental concerns, and how we can better serve you! There are several places on the site to post questions or comments - feel free to do so!
We offer a variety of programs which provide both financial and technical assistance. Check out our Programs page for more information. Sign-Ups are continuous and year-round. Come in today!
All technical assistance is delivered through the development of conservation plans. These plans are designed to not only address the resource needs of the land, but also incorporate the short and long term objectives of the client. Developed following a 9-step process, a conservation plan is essentially a set of conservation practices that are designed to work in an integrated manner to accomplish an identified level of resource treatment. Conservation plans must also be in compliance with all federal, state, and local laws. While the development of a conservation plan considers a wide range of information, all planning is based in part on the capabilities and limitations of the soils. More information about conservation planning is available for download in the documents to left below.
Conservation plans are an essential first-step when deciding which program may be right for you. Some programs even require that a plan must be completed before an application will be considered for funding.
If you submitted an application for EQIP, WHIP, CSP, AWEP, or any of our other Farm Bill Programs prior to 9/30/2011, there are two things that we need you to do:
1. Call, email, or come in to tell us if you would like to continue with your application and be considered for fiscal year 2012 funds, or if you would like to cancel your application or make changes to it. Please also let us know if you have made changes to your operation since you first submitted your application. We have sent out letters to remind you.
2. Come in to the Farm Service Agency and update your eligibility paperwork. It may be as simple as submitting a new adjusted gross income form, or it may require other documents. Without eligibility updates, you will not be considered for funding!
