astilbe x arendsi.jpg
I love the flowy-ness of astilbe. Goes in my high-water corner, away from drought tolerant plants.

Cherry 'Nanking'.jpg

These cherries attract birds. We got 30 pounds of fruit the first year, so quit picking them.

Yarrow is a native plant. Though it self-seeds like mad, it looks so good for months!

Please ignore the weeds, I do. This pink was a gift from a friend.
gypsophila paniculata.jpg

Perennial baby's breath - kind of smelly, but necessary in a baby's memory garden. A gift from a friend.

A really lovely daylily I inherited on the property.
hydrangea macrophylla 'Balimer' 1.jpg
hydrangea macrophylla 'Balimer' 1.jpg
My absolute pride and joy. I hugged the pot when I bought this hydrangea, called "Endless Summer".
hydrangea macrophylla 'Balimer' 2.jpg
hydrangea macrophylla 'Balimer' 2.jpg
It gets bluer if you water in the right chemicals (for a baby boy). It lives next to the astilbe.
hydrangea macrophylla 'Balimer' 3.jpg
hydrangea macrophylla 'Balimer' 3.jpg
I stopped watering it with chemicals and it turned pink later in the year.
hydrangea macrophylla 'Balimer' 4.jpg
hydrangea macrophylla 'Balimer' 4.jpg
This was the light blue colour. I worried it wouldn't overwinter, but looks like buds are developing...I hope, I hope!!
hydrangea macrophylla 'Balimer' 5.jpg
hydrangea macrophylla 'Balimer' 5.jpg
This was the item that I chose to nuture last summer when I could not nuture my son.
hydrangea paniculata 'pink diamond'.jpg
hydrangea paniculata 'pink diamond'.jpg
Another hydrangea variety, more hardy. It is pretty, but I don't *love* it the way I love the Endless Summer.

leucanthemum x superbum 'Shasta Daisy'.jpg
My daisies are pretty, but the sibling plants that I gave to a friend are much prettier. Go figure. Self seeders, grr.

potentilla fructicosa 'Pink Beauty'.jpg
potentilla fructicosa 'Pink Beauty'.jpg
Pastel pink potentilla, since they are drought/heat tolerant, grow well here, and I don't love the yellow (see next)
potentilla fructicosa.jpg
potentilla fructicosa.jpg
Yellow potentilla - cheery, but WAY overdone here. I inherited this one with the yard and it is too heathy to remove...

The most perfectly white rose I could find. No blush at all. We used white roses in the casket spray.
rosa 'Morden Blush'.jpg
rosa 'Morden Blush'.jpg
I have always loved this shrub rose - the double blossoms are perfect. And roses are the perfect flower.
rosa 'Terese Bugnet'.jpg
rosa 'Terese Bugnet'.jpg
A nice shrub rose that was recommended by a friend - only one bloom in a season, though, so it annoys me. I want blooms!
