Welcome to Ekalaka MT

Hello Ekalakans and Carter Countians,

This is a page for those with roots in Ekalaka and Carter County to share your photo history.  Please feel free to upload any family pics, landscapes, wildlife, sporting events, etc.  To add pictures or video, click here. You will have to create an account to submit pictures.
A picture is worth a 1000 words and when your from a small town 1 picture can easily generate more.
"Hey, do you recognize him/her?"  "Yeah, don't you remember his/her mom/dad worked for old what's his name and they lived on the corner across from such and such business or so and so."
How many of you have had one photograph take you down this road.  I know it happens in my family a lot.  So enjoy, and have fun with this!

the Word around Town:

It's complete!!!!
For all of you out there that aren't aware....there is now a smooth HIGHWAY from one end of Carter County to the other!  I honestly never thought I would see the day!  It's hard to imagine after so many years of bouncing across the Alzada road that it will be smooth "sailing".  It's a little easy to get lost though; they took out a series of little hills and as dumb as it sounds, it's easy to lose your bearings.
First 6-man football game of 2010 season ends in defeat
The Bulldogs faced off against a strong Denton team; I believe Denton was a State runner-up last year in 6-man play!  I was unable to attend but have heard that rules of play were distributed to the hometown crowd.  According to Sports Historian, Ernie Tooke, this is not the first time the Bulldogs have played 6-man football but it has been quite a few years.  The Bulldogs didn't win the game but they did well for the first time out; it has to be a hard adjustment!  Hang in there 'Dogs; give 100% every time you step on the gridiron and you'll be winners in my book!  Blue, White, Fight, Fight!!!
Fall Sports
Lady Bulldog Volleyball and Bulldog Football have gotten under way!  The youth have one week of practice under their belts.  The Lady Blue have a new head coach this year, and it sounds as if she is getting the girls whipped into shape!  The Gridiron Gang are still under the tutelage of Tenadore Kittelmann but all are working their way through the learning curve of 6 man football; Monday's practice had 7 young men on the field!
Show your school spirit and post some pictures of your Fall glory days and tell us about it!
125 years since Claude Carter bogged down in Russel Creek!
Just wondering how many folks plan on frequenting the watering hole during the Days of '85 for the 125th celebration!
Gettin' it started
Even though I live 120 miles from home, it amazes me how much information I am still privy too!  There are times I'll mention something to a family member in Ekalaka and they haven't heard it yet!  Funny how word travels and especially in a small town!
