Latest Book

I cannot believe that "Bounce" is actually hitting the market. It seems like just yesterday that I was sitting on my office floor scribbling words on a notepad and saying, "I think I've got a book here."

This book has so many nuggets of sweetness for me. First of all, the main character is Michael, named after my dad. And second, it tells a story of family playing a big role in keeping kids on track after a divorce. Cole, the cousin, mentors Michael. I had that. I had cousins who loved on me as I grew up - what a gift! The hero, Cole, was named after my own nephew.

This book is also a reminder that I didn't quit when the process got hard. My publishing company, more specifically, Kim Finkel, pushed me to really work. Thankful for the lesson. Writing is so much more than the creative element.

Now, I get to sit back and watch, Ana, the illustrator for "Bounce" go to her first book signing in Bartlesville on Sunday...it is from 2 to 4 p.m. at Hastings Books if you just happen to be in Bartlesville. I cannot wait to see her face when she realizes that people care about her and her work and are showing up to say that.

October News

Wow. October is a big month.

On October 8th I will be telling my own story to an audience of over seven hundred in Dallas. If you are in the Dallas area, http://www.christian-works.org/.

Then on October 14th, our annual Chili on the Square event - which is oh, so fun.

My latest book, "Bounce," will have just come out, so I will be doing a pre-sale signing at the event this year. Really looking forward to sharing this book with the students we visit at Tulsa Public Schools.

KidWorks Collaboration

Last Spring I had the opportunity to meet with Rob and Beverly representing KidWorks, a division of ChristianWorks for Children addressing the needs of children of divorce. That meeting has led to a working collaborative effort to bring all of our resources together to better meet the growing needs of children of divorce. The Child of Divorce is honored to promote the integrity and compassion of KidWorks. If you are in the Dallas area and are going through a divorce, know you will be in good hands.

July Updates

Blended Love, Inc. established in April of 2008 has officially changed their name to THE CHILD OF DIVORCE. The board voted for this name change in May of this year.

As the organization has grown and become more well-defined, the board decided the name needed to better reflect the goals of the organization.

So, what is the organization up to this summer?

The Program Committee is working hard at editing and finalizing the "Change Agent Journal" Curriculum to be put on an LMS system (Learning Management System) that has been donated by Reliant Live.

KidsWorks in Dallas, Texas has become a partnering organization with the goal of helping more children of divorce.

Our fourth annual Chili On the Square event date has been set for October 14th, Bartlett Square in Downtown Tulsa.
