Dress description

Dresses are 100% cotton. Fabric has been pre-washed prior to cutting to avoid further shrinkage. Ribbons are sewn into the dress and ends are treated to prevent fraying. All seams have a french seam. It has an enclosed elastic neckline for easy dressing. It is meant to be worn loosely. At widest point, dress measures 19 inches. The top is gathered. It can be worn where you prefer; at the knee, mid-calf or ankle length. Versatile--Can be worn with a shirt for cooler days. As your child grows, the dress can be worn as a shirt with leggings. Variety of sizes and colors available. Dresses made in a smoke and pet-free environment.

Custom made: just measure from collar bone to where you want your dress to end. Measure top width for perfect fit.

How I got started

Just a little info....I am Mexican American. You may find as you're viewing my dresses that many dress names are in Spanish. Many of the dresses are named after relatives that have been influential in my life and never forgotten. I also thought it would be a great opportunity for people to learn a little Spanish. :)

"Estrella de Mar" is pronounced Es-tre-ya. It means "Starfish". Beachwear is the direction I'm going for.

I started out making curtains for my home and costumes for my kids and this led to the dresses. Since my friends really like them....they've asked me to share with others. I do have the ability to make other styles but I chose to do this particular style because its quite versatile and it can be worn for several years as your child grows. (In the very small sizes 6 mos-2T, the width is only 6 inches at the top. As your child grows that elastic can be replaced for a longer one so that the dress can be worn as a shirt. The larger sizes are wider at the top.)

I have a BA in Psychology from Boston College and a BSN from UMASS BOSTON. I have a regular job as a NICU nurse (perdiem). I cherish my education and job, but I absolutely adore sewing beautiful dresses for little girls. I do this in my spare time...whenever that is.
