Florida Game Monitors Needed

EUSPBA Monitors are extremely important at the highland games. There are many duties entailed in the Monitor's job.  They are responsible for the integrity of all the final scores of soloists and band competitions along with many other responsibilities that help make the highland games run smoothly.  If you or a sister, brother, mom, dad, etc., are interested in becoming an EUSPBA Monitor for any of the Florida Highland Games, please contact Gary Hurlbut to schedule your training at one of the Florida highland games.  There is no charge for the training, and once Monitors become independent, they will earn a stipend of $50 for the day. Game Monitors need to be a member of EUSPBA.

Sean Poyntz

Sean Poyntz Places 2nd at the 2012 Metro Cup!

Sean Poyntz, a 19 year old from Miami, Florida, was nominated to represent the Florida Branch of EUSPBA at the 2012 Metro Cup.  This event was held February 18th, in Newark, NJ.

Sean is currently attending Iona College majoring in Economics and is a member of the New York Metro Pipe Band.  During the winter months, Sean is the instructor and playing member of the Fort Lauderdale Highlanders Pipe Band.

Sean began piping with Miami's St. Andrews Pipe Band and later joined the Fort Lauderdale Highlanders.  He was also a member of the Steel Thistle Pipes and Drums (a youth bagpipe band) and the City of Dunedin Pipe Band, before moving to New York to attend college.

Sean's piping instructors are Bruce and Alex Gandy of Dartmouth, Nova Scotia.  Sean has consistently ranked among the top bagpipe competitors throughout Florida and the Eastern United States.

Congratulations to Sean Poyntz, a job very well done!

2012 Competition Season Comes To A Close

We are proud of all the highland games and the effort that was put forth.  Everyone had a great time and we look forward to next year's competitions.

We will be having our AGM in a few months so please try to attend.  We will be sending out emails and letters with all the information as we get closer to establishing a date and location.  3 officer positions will be available, Chairman, Treasurer, and Secretary.

Florida Cup winners will be announced and presented with their trophies.

The Upcoming Events page has just been updated with the highland games dates for next year.  A couple of dates are not yet set in stone but as soon as we get confirmation we'll let everyone know.
