I found out yesterday I will be in training on March 6 and I plan on being out March 8 to attend a field trip with my youngest son.

Knox (pictured) told me at church this morning that they all had a lot of fun. I am proud of each student that participated, it takes a lot of bravery to get up in front of a crowd to speak. My heart is so full and I am so proud of each one of our 4H Project Achievement students.

From Ms. Jackson
Please remind those 4-H’ers that are participating in Project Achievement that our next practice will be Friday, February 3. Please tell the students that the written part of their presentations must be ready. Those students that are performing must have their music/CD player or instrument (if possible).
Also, for those students that have written presentations, in their packet was a sheet to draft their posters on. Please remind them to turn those sheets in to you by noon on January 31 and leave them in the office for me. I will cut out their letters and bring them to them on Friday, Feb. 3 at practice.

Bible verse Due Jan. 20th
If you check the website often you know that sometimes you get a sneek peak at the bible verse. This verse will be due Jan. 20th:
“Thoughtless words cut like a sword. But the tongue of wise people brings healing.” Proverbs 12:8
Jan.16 & 17
Remember Jan. 16 is a student holiday in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. On Jan. 17th, I will be late, I have to get some dental work completed. I don't like missing school, even for just a few hours, but this was the only time available. :(

Bible Verse due Jan. 12th
“A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger. The tongue of the wise adorns knowledge, but the mouth of the fool gushes folly. The eyes of the LORD are everywhere, keeping watch on the wicked and the good. The soothing tongue is a tree of life, but a perverse tongue crushes the spirit.”
Proverbs 15:1-4
Jan. 3rd
Just a friendly reminder that students return Jan. 3rd, not Jan. 2nd. :)
Donations
Wow! We raised $180 for the two teenage boys we "adopted." Both boys will get a $90 gift card and a student donated a wireless Wii Guitar Hero guitar! I think we did an awesome job raising money for them! Thank you all for your generous donations! I am beyond blessed to teach this wonderful group of students.
For our classroom, we received a $50 gift card and a Bop-It (one of my favorite games) and some cool bowling games.
I hope you all have a wonderful break and a joyous Christmas.
Introducing Ginger
Meg gave our class a baby gerbil this morning. What a way to start off the week! After a class wide vote she was named Ginger. Given the time of year and her coloring, I think the class did a fantastic job naming her. Thank you Meg for your kindness. If you'd like to see more pictures of Ginger scroll down on this page. :)

Georgia Aquarium
This has to be my favorite field trip of the year, and we go on some really good field trips. J We are officially scheduled for an overnight trip to the Georgia Aquarium on March 20th. We will leave after school (around 4:30) and return March 21st around 2:00. If you are interested in chaperoning this trip let me know as soon as possible. The cost for a parent to attend is $95.95. If you are a Georgia Aquarium member your cost is $71.95. Your ticket includes your dinner, all the educational classes including behind the scene tours, light breakfast, and lodging. Please take the word lodging lightly; it includes a place to sleep inside the aquarium with your sleeping bag on a mat they provide. J There are no showers. Last year we were able to sleep in the tunnel, it was a fun experience. We are not told of where we will sleep until it is time to sleep. More details about this trip will come as it gets closer. J

Chester
I usually keep all pets at my house from Thanksgiving break until after Christmas break. I am really glad I kept Chester at home. He was very playful Friday night and Saturday morning. We noticed late in the day Saturday that he had the shaky death walk. He slept all afternoon Saturday and when we went to bed Saturday night he was still breathing, slowly, but breathing and sleeping. We woke up this morning to find that he found some energy to crawl across the cage, but it must have been too much on him and he died. We will hold a burial for Chester Monday morning at school. He was a year and half old and two classes were able to enjoy his energy. I know I will miss him along with the class and my personal children.

Happy Thanksgiving!
If you were on here earlier this evening, you saw a different bible verse. You can still be thankful for a head start! This is the one I want to do (I changed my mind after watching something). This will be due Dec. 15th:
"Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father." Ryan's Eye
The children have been graciously praying for Ryan's (my son) eye. We went to the eye doctor yesterday for a progress check-up. The news was more than good, it was awesome. Last August, Ryan's eyes were 20/200 with patching eight hours a day. Because you can't come off the patch cold turkey, we will now have to patch six hours a day and we will gradually decrease his time. Ryan's vision is now 20/30! Glory be to God! Ryan prays nightly for his eye, I pray daily for his eye, and many students pray for his eye each morning. Thank you God for answered prayers!

Tuesday Folders
As most of you know I was sick two days last week. I came to school on Friday feeling better but not 100%. I came home Friday evening and rested, teaching wiped me out. I spent a good deal of my weekend resting and taking it easy. While I did grade and correct a good deal of work, I didn't get to it all. I mainly have reading comprehension left to grade; I am working on getting it finished. I will do another round of grading tomorrow night, but not on Wednesday night. Next week’s folders will have many more papers than this week; this week’s might be a little thin. Thank you for your patience as I catch up from being out.
