I am getting Rowan excited about starting a vegetable garden.
I started thinking of things we could do to help cut costs, and since one of our biggest costs (besides rent and electric) is the grocery bill. And will I don't think I can ever grow wheat, I think we can contribute to the coffers with our own little vegetable and fruit garden. While it won't keep us free from going to the grocery store, we can spend less on produce and always have something fresh for the table no mater how tight things get. Not to mention it helps teach Rowan how to be more self sufficient, and be less dependent on spending money getting someone else to do stuff for her and more on what she can do with her own two hands
Since we live in one of those communities with all sorts of rules (grrr) I can't cut out a huge portion of our lawn to grow a garden, but there is nothing in the bylaws about not being able to start a small one. So - with this in mind, the garden will be part potted and partially in the ground. I am starting with the potted stuff first, and we will be planting the seeds this weekend, I should have a lot of great pictures of that :-)
