Monday - Day 1
Hello Again!
There are 608 people at this camp this week. PACKED! They split us into 3 divisions. There's the Red Camp, Green Camp, and Yellow Camp. We are in the Red camp. That means first Breakfast...not cool. Camp breakfast at 7:30am = tough! Actually, the food here is not that bad. Still camp food in a cafeteria, but they do a great job. Eating in the cafeteria is always an adventure. Constant screaming, banging on tables and people yelling "I'm a Moose! I'm a Moose! I'm a Moose! (Just ask a youth to explain sometime.)
Check out the pictures for some of the messy games and different activities the youth were a part of. It was a great day! Cloudy in the morning (thankfully!) and sunny in the afternoon, which means some of us got way too much sun.
The bible studies have gone well and I can tell the group is being affected positively. It's amazing how even one day completely immersed in scripture, singing praises and listening to the spoken word can bring you closer to God and His will in your life. Please continue the prayers!
Jeremy
The Beginning of "Day ONE"
Hello Everyone! We made it!! God be praised!
The only glitches in the trip was a flapping windshield trim (which was fixed with duct tape! It really does fix about everything...) Missing our turn because the iphone signal was lost, our map disappeared and we wound up taking the scenic route to the camp. It only took about 30 extra minutes. Grrrr! And some super excited youth that wouldn't quit yapping, but duct tape fixed that too! Just kidding on that last part, (but it was considered...) :)
I am very excited about this week. The staff is pumped up and the camp pastor is excellent. I know God is going to do great things with our group. Please be in prayer for us. (Seriously, take a moment RIGHT NOW and pray for these youth, and the leaders.) Pray for their hearts and minds to be opened to what God has in store for them. Thank you so much for the support.
Jeremy
Camp 2010...
ok.. so it has totally been a year since i have uploaded ANYTHING. LoL! But... i have uploaded some photos from this years Crossings Camp "Adopted". The pics are below, so check them out and leave some comments! Please be praying for each youth. God is definitely moving in a mighty way throughout camp. :)
Youth Night was a great success!
I know that this entry is a week late, but a week ago on June 28th, the youth had full control of the Sunday night service. They shared things that they learned at camp with the church as well as shared some songs from camp. Many church members were touched by what the youth had to share. Continue to pray for our youth group to go BEYOND.
We're Back and Ready to go BEYOND!
Yes as I am writing this it is Monday already. Camp flew by and we arrived in Flomaton around 2:30am Saturday morning. We had a little detour to Metropolis, Illinois (the "home" of Superman) the youth really enjoyed this!
As a church family lets all stand behind and encourage our youth to continue to go BEYOND. Even ask them what God did at camp this year.
This upcoming Sunday night, our youth will be presenting pictures, music and testimonies from their camp experiences. Please come and see and hear how God worked in their lives!
Day 3 Morning Celebration and Bible Study
Hello ALL!!!! sorry for not blogging last night, but i just decided to upload the photos from yesterday. Worship was amazing, it was a little different. The worship leader decided to make the service a little like our home churches in that we sang songs to just a guitar (not keyboard, bass, or drums). it was a humbling experience. We sang hymns and then the camp staffers would read scripture in between, and the camp pastor ended with a "sermon". He spoke from Romans 3. WOW, thats all i have to say.
Yesterday Brandon headed with luke, sarah and angie to go tubing on the lake behind the pontoon boats. well... lets just say Brandon started to feel the sway of the waves and upchucked not once but 3 times off the side of the boat. Now any normal person would usually feel sick afterwards, but no not Brandon, he felt better than ever, and had the tubing experience of a lifetime! :) (Another one of those "you had to be there" moments.) Just as Luke, Sarah or Angie. :)
This morning during morning celebration a huge time to get the campers up and awake and excited about the day to come, The kids jumped and yelled and it was awesome.
However, during the large group Bible study today, the camp pastor challenged the students to go "BEYOND YOUR PLANS", by using the story of Moses. Moses was definitley challenged to go beyond his plans, because God wanted to do things His way, but Moses wanted to do things in his time and way. Check it out in Exodus 3:1-14!
Anyways, I hope to have some videos and pics up later, but I have to go for now, to eat lunch! yay!!!!!
Beginning of Day 2 here at Jonathan Creek
Once again the Lord has started the day off great. Today's lesson was "Beyond your Performance". The camp pastor introduced the story of Abraham and how he stepped out on faith alone to follow when God did not specifically direct him. Also how he stepped out on faith by doing what he thought would be "sacrificing his son". Yesterday our youth were challenged to go "BEYOND YOUR POSITION". Today they are being challenged to go "BEYOND YOUR PERFORMANCE".
Just a little fun story from last night's checkpoint time. We were in a church group time, and towards the end, Jody looked like he was falling asleep, so Dustin decided that it would be funny to get everyone to yell "JODY!" really loud all at once. So, Dustin counted us off 1, 2, 3... JODY!!!! Jody literally jumped about 6 inches off of his seat! HILARIOUS! Its one of those "you had to be there to appreciate it" moments. :)
Anyways... right now Dustin and I are in the JCafe. He is working on sermons and i am updating the blog, and in just a few minutes will upload some footage from last nights "shack" time as well as some Morning celebration pics and videos... Enjoy!
Oh.. wait ... yesterday our students did not get to do their POIs due to rain. so we had some sad students. A good half of them had a POI that involved water... lightning and water don't mix very well. peace out.
Day One Unfolds... Whoop Whoop!
Hello again! Wow, Day One has flown by, i feel like i blinked and out of nowhere we are hanging out at the shack! As I write this, the students are outside at the shack building relationships with the staffers. Please continue to pray for God to move in a mighty way within our group, I think that they are ready and willing. Its so exciting. Tonight at worship, The Lord kicked the week off right, Jeff Heine is our camp pastor this week, and tonight he spoke from 1 John 1:1-10. AMAZING. This really stepped on every single one of our toes, whether we want to admit it or not. Check out the scripture for yourselves! Jeremy and Brook: They all just finished doing the "Diverse City" dance and "Cotton-eye-joe" :) they rocked it!
I want each of you to know that the Lord is beginning a great work amongst our students and it is only Day ONe!!!!!! How GREAT is our GOD! amen!
Stay tuned tomorrow for photos from tonight's "shack" time as well as morning celebration pics! peace out.
Morning of Day 1
Good Morning Flomaton First Baptist! Early this morning we kicked the day off well and rolled in to breakfast at 8:15. Morning Celebration started at 9am and totally and completely woke up each and every youth inside that huge worship center! :) We had a return appearance from the "25 hill bill" but he is now "20 hill bill". Our youth are being encouraged to give some to the mission offering. Their offerings will be sent over to Zambia. I will keep you all posted on the missions offering.
Opening Day! :)
Hello everyone! We have just completed our "opening day" here at Jonathan Creek. As i am typing this, the youth are at the "shack" and are buying snacks and hanging with the staffers. The themes is BEYOND... more to come on this matter later! I am also about to add an album from today's trip and arrival, EnJoY!
Getting Ready for Camp!
The youth are currently counting down to the very early hour that they will hit the road for Kentucky! They are so extremely excited about camp! We will all miss Brook and Jeremy, but they are right where they should be, raising their beautiful baby girl, Gabrielle. So that they can spend some quality time with their daughter. First Baptist's pastor, Dustin Stockstill, and Shawna Moore will be chaperoning them. They will leave the church early tomorrow morning, so pleas pray that they have a safe and fun traveling experience to Crossings Camp in Kentucky. :) Stay posted for updates!
