Nature has outdone herself this year.  I am seeing so many more flowers on everything and the growth on my trees and shrubs is remarkable.  Wow!  What a year to reap the rewards of all the planting, trimming, weeding and watering of my garden for the last four years.

I have always enjoyed watching nature come back to life in the Spring.  My flowering trees have outdone themselves this year, possibly due to the fact that they actually went dormant because we had a colder winter.

Bright and colorful, forever blooming, have smiling faces...  Love those pretty little pansies and johnny jump-ups.  

Although rose is my namesake I have only grown roses for a few years.  They were difficult to grow until the newest varieties were developed.  We had three red knock out rose bushes in our front yard when we moved into our current home a few years ago.  I thought "oh no, roses are so hard to take care of and they don't bloom very long."  I was so wrong.  They are very easy to raise and bloom from Spring to Fall with minimal care. I've discovered that these roses can be cut back drastically in the late Winter/early Spring, fertilized, watered and left to grow.  Sometimes they get Japanese beetles in late June or July.  If caught early and sprayed with (Seven) immediately, that takes care of that problem fast.
