Sergeant was killed October 18, 2010.

Sgt. Sean Derenth

Sergeant Sean T. Drenth, a 12-year veteran of the Phoenix

Police Department currently assigned to South Mountain P

recinct, was killed in the line of duty late Monday night,

October 18, 2010 near 18th Avenue and Jackson in Phoenix.

Public Safety Manager, Police Chief Jack Harris held a press

conference to share news of the tragic loss of Sergeant

Drenth, who was an outstanding and highly regarded member

of the department.

Harris said, “It is with great sadness I report that late last

night Phoenix Police Sergeant Sean Drenth was found dead

at 18th Avenue and Jackson Street.. Sergeant Drenth was

 found in an isolated dirt lot by a Capitol Police employee;

he was lying near his patrol car. Our investigators are still

on-scene this morning conducting a thorough investigation.

I am confident they will determine what occurred.” Harris

added, “Sean was the last sergeant I was able to promote

before we entered the current budget crisis.”

Sergeant Drenth joined the Phoenix Police Department on

May 18, 1998. He began his career as a patrol and

Neighborhood Enforcement Team (NET) officer in South

Mountain Precinct where he remained for nine years. The

next two years he worked within the Major Offender Unit

and Training Bureau, and on December 14, 2009, Drenth

was promoted to Sergeant; his new position taking him to

assignments in the Squaw Peak and South Mountain Precincts.

Sergeant Drenth transferred to South Mountain Precinct on

October 11, 2010.

Drenth was honored with one of the highest awards in the

police department—the Medal of Valor. On September 17, 2003

near 18th Street and Jones, the sergeant heroically rescued

trapped residents of a burning apartment building engulfed in

flames that had spread from a nearby storage shed.

Harris concluded his remarks saying, “We hope the community

will bear with us and be patient as we continue to investigate

 this tragedy. “

Sergeant Drenth, 34, is survived by his wife and mother.

Funeral arrangements are pending.

Phoenix Police Fallen Officers Memorial

The purpose of this web site is to provide information on the progress of the Memorial located inside the lobby of the FOP Lodge #2 located at 12851 N. 19 Avenue, Phoenix, AZ.  We have new doors installed and stained.  The tile floor was donated and installed by Adams Brother's Flooring; it looks great. The paneling and wood work is done, along with the ceiling, new light fixtures (installed by Nick Gionet), and paint.  The  glass work was done by Chris Geis and the plaques of our fallen brothers and contributors plaques are being hung.  There will also be a touch screen computer to tell the story of how each officer passed.  The photo above and to the center was our old Memorial corner.  We felt that it did not show enough gratitude to the Phoenix Officers that have paid the ultimate sacrifice.  Please help us Honor Sacrifice by assisting with our cause.   Please stop by the lodge and see our progress.

ADOPT A FALLEN OFFICER OR K-9

We are asking for $150.00 donations from a Precinct, Squad, Family or Individual in the name of one of our fallen brothers (thank God we have not lost a sister yet).  You will recieve your name on an Adopt A Fallen Officer plaque that will be mounted at the Memorial.

We still have several officers that have not been adopted.  Let's see if we can adopt them all.
