Youth Club Choirs trip to Phoebe Home
Tuesday, April 24
meeting at Phoebe Home at 6:00 p.m.
Our Youth Club Choirs will repeat their annual trip to Phoebe Home as a conclusion to our season. We will be presenting a program of our favorite anthems from this past year and include some readings for the Fifth Graders. Fifth Graders – if there is another activity in your schedule that will prevent you from attending this program, please notify Gloria Snyder as soon as possible – no later than April 10. We need to know who we can expect to be present when we assign speaking parts on April 10. Here are the details - at least as far as we have thought about them to this point. If you have questions, or anything is unclear, please contact Gloria Snyder or Noha Khoury through the church office – Gloria.snyder@fpcallentown.org or 610 395-3781, ex. 21.
There will be No Youth Club at our church on Tuesday, April 24. The program at Phoebe Home will take the place of Youth Club. The program will be held in Moyer Hall which is straight ahead as you enter at the covered main entrance to the older building.
We will meet at Phoebe Home at 6:00 p.m. Phoebe Home is a Nursing Home located on the North side of Turner Street (One Way Eastbound) between 19th and 20th Streets, across the street from the Allentown School District Stadium. Their address is 1925 W. Turner Street. We will gather in the parlor area to the right of Moyer Hall. The program will take place in Moyer Hall and will begin at 6:30 p.m. After our program concludes, there will be refreshments and an opportunity for the children to mingle with the guests of Phoebe Home. You are welcome to leave whenever it is convenient for you after we have finished our actual program.
Parking is limited to the neighborhood along the curb. The Allentown Fairgrounds is one block North of Phoebe Home along Chew Street, if that becomes necessary for parking.
We ask that your children dress in “school clothes” and wear comfortable shoes as we will be sitting and standing for the program like in our sanctuary. Long pants (not shorts or skirts for the girls) will work best for our presentation. Families are more than welcome to join us for the evening – there is plenty of space and we enjoy your “moral support.” I hope the children will have had time for a quick meal before they arrive at Phoebe Home.
We find our experience at Phoebe Home is always very meaningful. I expect the older audience will again be absolutely thrilled to enjoy the presence and the program of our wonderful young people.
Our children bring a joy and an enthusiasm that is deeply appreciated and our reception is always warm and welcoming. Before we arrive on April 24, we will have talked in choir rehearsals about what the children can expect and how best to visit with the members of the audience. I am always so proud and pleased with our choirs! They represent First Presbyterian Church and their families in a very wonderful way. If you would enjoy visiting members of the audience with your child, you are encouraged to share that special experience.
At the end of this program, we will say a fond “So long” to this Youth Club season until we meet each other again in a wide variety of ways at our church and especially as we begin to look forward to choir in the fall.
