Fremont Cub Scout Pack 289

Pack 289 is a Cub Scout Pack for Fremont School District 79 located in Mundelein, Illinois. It was founded in the 2000-2001 school year.

Cub Scouting is an active program. Boys learn by doing, and there's no end to the fun things that Cub Scouts do in their dens, as a pack, and at special events. With activities held at every level—family, den, and pack—Cub Scouting provides a year-round program of fun and learning for boys and their families. Being a Cub Scout means you are a member of a worldwide youth movement that stands for certain values and beliefs. Cub Scouting is more than something to do. It's all about the boy you are and the person you will become.

Cub Scouting is based on 10 Purposes.  1) Character Development, 2) Spiritual Growth, 3) Good Citizenship, 4) Sportsmanship & Fitness, 5) Family Understanding, 6) Respectful Relationships, 7) Personal Achievement, 8) Friendly Service, 9) Fun and Adventure, 10) Preparation: Boy Scouts

The Boy Scouts of America is one of the nation's largest and most prominent values-based youth development organizations. The BSA provides a program for young people that builds character, trains them in the responsibilities of participating citizenship, and develops personal fitness.

For nearly a century, the BSA has helped build the future leaders of this country by combining educational activities and lifelong values with fun. The Boy Scouts of America believes — and, through nearly a century of experience, knows — that helping youth is a key to building a more conscientious, responsible, and productive society.

The purpose of the Boy Scouts of America—incorporated on February 8, 1910, and chartered by Congress in 1916—is to provide an educational program for boys and young adults to build character, to train in the responsibilities of participating citizenship, and to develop personal fitness.

Tiger Cubs is a year-round family- and home-centered program that encourages the ethical decision-making skills for first grade (or 7-year-old) boys. These boys participate in the program with their adult partners. The program emphasizes shared leadership, learning about the community, and family understanding.

Cub Scouts is a year-round family- and home-centered program that develops ethical decision-making skills for boys in the second through fifth grade (or who are 8, 9, and 10 years old). Activities emphasize character development, citizenship training, and personal fitness.

Webelos Scouts is a year-round family- and home-centered program that develops ethical decision-making skills for fourth- and fifth-grade (or 10-year-old) boys.

Boy Scouting is a year-round program for boys 11 through 17 designed to achieve the aims of Scouting through a vigorous outdoor program and peer group leadership with the counsel of an adult Scoutmaster. (Boys also may become Boy Scouts if they have earned the Cub Scouting Arrow of Light Award and are at least 10 years old and have completed the fifth grade and are at least 10 years old.)

Varsity Scouting is an active, exciting, year-round program for young men ages 14 through 17 that is built around five program fields of emphasis: advancement, high adventure, personal development, service, and special programs and events.

Venturing is a year-round program for young men and women who are 14 (or 13 years of age and have completed the eighth grade) through 21 years of age to provide positive experiences through exciting and meaningful youth-run activities that help them pursue their special interests, grow by teaching others, and develop leadership skills

Scouting is fun with a purpose! Your time is valuable. More than ever, today's families struggle to find time to spend together. Cub Scouting helps to support your family  by providing ready-made opportunities for you and your son to do things together.

Your Cubmaster,
Roy Parker
