Help us help the poor in our community become self-sufficient, contributing members of our community.
46.2 million Americans, 13.5 million are children under 18 years old, live in poverty every day.
Let's work together to end poverty in Genesee and Orleans Counties.
Money raised here, stays here!

"Give a man a fish and he'll eat today.
Teach a man to fish and he'll never go hungry."
Our clients are the elderly, single parent families, children, the working poor, disabled, homeless, etc.
WE NEED:
*good, used furniture and appliances (no gas appliances) ~ especially beds
*personal care items such as soap, deodorant, blankets, pillows, sheets, laundry soap, dish soap, toothpaste, diapers, shampoo, etc.
Our children need mentors! We hold monthly group activities for these children and need good role models to participate in our programs. Just Friends Mentors are:
*adults 18 or over who care about children
*who can provide at least 8 hours a month
*willing to voluteer time to provide support and guidance to a child between the ages of 5-16 who needs a positive role model
*good listeners
*people who will encourage the child to work hard in school and to avoid negative behaviors and influences
*advisors who are non-judgmental
*friends, plain and simple
Go to our Just Friends page for information on our program for children.
GOMOC is partnered with the Cornell Cooperative Extension Master Gardeners and the Byron and Elba Presbyterian churches to begin a project to teach vegetable gardening and preservation. We hope to target our impoverished community to show them how to become more self sufficient by growing their own food, preserving it, and possibly having enough to sell or share with others.
If you have or know of property that can be used for a community garden, please contact Orleans County Cornell Cooperative Extention Master Gardeners.
Everyone is welcome. We invite any and all interested individuals who would like to participate. Contact our office at 585-589-9210 for more information or to join us in this endeavor.
