Amaraaba! Welcome to Ghana

What is the first thought that crosses your mind when someone says rural Africa?  Moving from Park City, UT to the small village of Kpendua, Ghana was a huge change but has been more than rewarding.  I'll be spending 27 months in rural Africa with the Peace Corps working as a health, sanitation and HIV prevention volunteer and part-time photographer.  Besides friends and family one of the things I miss most is pow on a good ski day.  I'll document this journey as best I can, hopefully transporting you momentarily from the snowy peaks of Jupiter bowl into the hot sun and welcoming culture of Ghana! Here you'll find day-to-day pictures I've taken and the stories behind them. I'll post whenever I find internet so visit regularly to see what's new. Siliminga, enjoy!

Miss you

Everything you have written on your journey has been fascinating and so descriptive, Con - but each time you send pictures, your experience and the sights and sounds and smells seem to come to life.  Wow!  I have enjoyed each and every word and picture - your are terrific to chronicle your life there and I am so glad I am on your sharing list.  You are very missed.  xo

Connor! This is Becky Buxton (Doug and Lisa Leonard's mom) I ran into your dad in the hall at the med school this morning, and I was really surprised to hear that you are in Ghana! ...because I will be back there this summer! It looks like your village is near the road that goes from Tamale to Mole. I will be spending some time in Kintampo, and there are plans to visit Mole ...so I THINK I will be coming pretty close to where you are. When is your time up? (Will you be there past the 4th of July?)

Your pictures are FANTASTIC! (I am REALLY jealous of your bushbuck. I never got a good shot of one of them!)
