solution to C) In the cat version of Greek tale, Eris (the goddess of strife) throws golden eyeballs at the most beautiful felines so they can see themselves through the eyes of others. Then of course, cats being carnivorous, they can eat the eyeballs.

Kat-Alogue Picture Stone

The Kat-Alogue Picture Stone will tell the story of how the felines left the ill-fated Cat's Eye Nebula and built an outpost on the outskirts of Black Rock City which became know to all as EMERALD KITTY. It will instruct participants to solve a riddle from the scroll in the upraised paw of The Sphinx and to ultimately meditate inside the crystal bearing Kat-Thedral to become one with the essence of EMERALD KITTY.

It really is paper-mache. But it can withstand the power of The Playa. They are very strong and will be water-proofed.

Cathouse with cats

This cathouse is inside a very messy house. It will look much better out on The Playa. Sorry, Simon can't come to The Playa.

Strong Cathouse

The Cathouses are strong. They have wide bases and balance very well. Vinyl tubing is embedded in them for internal support to tether against the wind.

The Iris

The Iris is the mothership for EMERALD KITTY. It broke down returning to The Cat's Eye Nebula, and landed on The Playa near The Esplande. The good news is they have a working radio (walkie talkie) so participants can communicate with others at EMERALD KITTY (out near the trash fence). There will also be a correct version of the art installation physical locator map so participants can start their own journey out into the scary Deep Playa and and find EMERALD KITTY themselves.

In order to prevent theft of the Kitties themselves, I will be be providing paper pulp-mache EMERALD KITTY necklaces as gifts for Burners at both EMERALD KITTY and Iris locations. Don't worry, the plaster kitties will be either be glued or velcroed into the cathouses and The Iris. I will have plenty of back-ups also.

The Sphinx under construction

The green "paint" over the head is actually recycled green eggpods from my art installation MORMON CRICKET CRUSADE at last year's Burning Man. There will be a scroll with a list of riddles and a walkie-talkie in the upraised paw. You can communicate with the other walkie-talkie located across The Playa inside The Iris (the mothership for EMERALD KITTY) and ask them for help with the riddles. The solutions and a correct version of the art installation map will be located at The Iris. (last year there was a mistake on the map that all participants received for the correlating number physically locating the MORMON CRICKET CRUSADE on The Playa. The crickets were not amused. So this year I'm taking matters into my own hands just in case. I don't want to upset the Emerald Kitties). Also, to keep participants from getting too comfortable and sitting on top of The Sphinx I will be adding wings. (Greek sphinxes had wings.)

The Sphinx wings under construction. The green material will cover the rest of the lion/cat. The wings will be purple and pink like the face.

What's going on inside The Sphinx? Is it really a Trojan Horse? Enemy cats with eyes, mice and- gasp!-Mormon Crickets!!!

The Sphinx's Wings are complete! Greek Sphinxes had wings, as EMERALD KITTY is symbolic of the ancient/fictional city of Troy.

It's a very slow process. The cathouses are the backbone of EMERALD KITTY. They are very sculptural, yet they serve a purpose. There will be 12-16 of them.

Kat Thedral

There are four Kat Thedral sections. They are seven feet tall. They will be filled with crystals and placed in a square oriented north, south, east and west. When you stand in the middle it will be an amazing experience, you're chakras will be revitalized. The cats might join you also, that is where their "sixth sense" comes from.

The Kat Thedral will look much better outside on The Playa. Although these 4 Kat Thedral sections are 7 feet tall, their base is 3 1/2 feet wide. They will be tethered down very well to withstand the strong winds of The Playa.
