The Gooding County Historical Society is willing to help anyone looking for information on people in Gooding county. We are asking for a donation to help build our new museum. We will do research that can include picture of tombstones, obituaries and newspaper articles if a date is given of an event. The price we ask $10 for this package. If research is requested for an event that the exact date is not known we ask for a fee of $10 an hour.
We still have copies of the reprint of the county history book "Roots and branches" written in 1989 and reprinted in 2007. There is only about 100 copies left. There will not be another reprint. We are working on volumn 3 and are accepting family histories for the new volumn.
We have a treasure trove of school pictures from the Gibbons Elementry School donated by Doris Gibbons, Gene Gibbons' widow. We are now working to identify all the students. We have a large collection of years books on CD. We are looking for copies of every year book in the county including the Gooding College. If you have one please let us know if have one that we can copy. We currently finishing Gooding High School and will move on to one of the other cities.
We also have copies of obituaries from the local the local newspapers. Contact for the extact years that we have. We will eventually have all years avalible. If you early obituaries please think about sharing them with us. It takes hours of research of pull them from the early papers.
We are currently accepting birth announcements, wedding announcements, 50th anniversery announcements. If you have of these please think about sharing them with us. These are important to the hisory of the people in this area.
