Living Room Project

Living Room Project
Welcome to the start of Project : Living Room. We decided that this room desperately needed to be updated and since we are putting in new flooring in the entryway, we'd better just paint the entire thing at the same time.
The first few are the "before" pictures. This was the way that we were going to lay out out furniture, but it will probably change!

Living Room Project
Pippin got to go on a ride when we moved the couch and he didn't look too thrilled about it! I'm pretty sure he hates this whole remodeling thing.

Living Room Project
Unfortunately, his favorite place to cuddle is in the garage for a little while!

Living Room Project
The fireplace before. Our plan was to keep the tile and replace the wood surrounding it. Forest went to pull the wood off and I joked "wouldn't it be funny if the tile came off with it?" thinking that it would be totally secure and stuck on there. Well, I was wrong...

Living Room Project
Because this happened! The whole top part came off and went crashing into the ground! I honestly wanted to replace it but was a little nervous about that undertaking, so now we are forced into it. It doesn't seem too hard!

Living Room Project
Here is Forest removing the tile. Don't you LOVE the nasty wall color under the chair rail?

Living Room Project
I'm not sure if you can see this, but the old mortar was applied completely incorrectly. I have never tiled and I know it's wrong. As Forest's Mom would call it, this was a "5 Budweiser Job". I think it's more like 20.

Living Room Project
Check out how THICK that mortar was placed! That is not how to install tile correctly. It wasn't even stuck on the entire surface.

Living Room Project
Poor Pip was stuck outside the whole time we were ripping up the tile. He looked so lonely out there!

Living Room Project
Forest using brute force to get the hearth up...that was a pain to get up!

Living Room Project
Forest being all manly...hehe

Living Room Project
I ripped off all of the chair rail and left a nice mess on the floor.

Living Room Project
The tile-less fireplace!

Living Room Project
Our old, ugly window sills. They are covered in layers of streaky, globby paint and the ends aren't finished. We ripped off the bottom edge (even more disgusting) and there is a giant gaping hole down there! I have been pondering what to do with these for days now and I decided to try to scrape off the paint and see what I could find...

Living Room Project
I'm so happy, there are beautiful window sills under all that nasty streaky paint!

Living Room Project
Spackle! Hooray!

Living Room Project
Forest removing the wet bar. I won't have a place to put my vodka anymore!

Living Room Project
Pippin was not happy with all of the noise we were making!

Living Room Project
Forest removing the sink on the wet bar.

Living Room Project
Now you see it...

Living Room Project
Now you don't! Creepy though, our walls are bleeding!

Living Room Project
Just a hole in the wall...

Living Room Project
The cold water pipe was bent, which meant it was REALLY fun trying to sweat the cap on the end of the pipe.

Living Room Project
Forest had to replace this pipe and got purple goo everywhere.

Living Room Project
Frame-less doors in the entryway!

Living Room Project
Popcorn free ceiling!

Living Room Project
Forest scraping up the flooring in the entryway. That entire area is being replaced with laminate!

We stopped by the crater hole in near Odessa. It's a big hole in the ground, fun times.

No Way
We opted not to take the walking tour around the crater site, there was no way I was passing any snakes!
