A lot of people use either board, cardboard etc. to paint the buddies on.  My animals are all made of cardboard.  If I were doing the buddies I wouldn't be carving them like Brian does for us.  It is way too much work and you really have to know what you are doing.

The man carving the buddies was frustrated at not finding a lantern that he could put on the pole.  Most of the ones he found were too heavy.  I asked him if he wanted me to make one like the one on the clip art. I made a template for the lantern that Jacque the Croc has on his pole and used a 2 litre milk carton.  I took pictures as I progressed and have made the instructions (including the pictures) and have attached it in PDF format for your use.

I was asked for measurements & instructions of how our registration booth was made.  Here they are to the best of my ablility.  They are in PDF format.  I have posted more pictures below to show you what it looks like and maybe make my instructions clearer.

I was asked if I had any instructions for making the paper mache crocodile which I posted a picture of.  I'm attaching a PDF document that will hopefully help.  I didn't take any pictures of when I was attaching the wire so I hope this document is clear enough.  If not feel free to contact me.
