Carolyn and Krishna's Home Improvement Journal - greenbungalow

Featured pictures

Welcome

This collection features pictures of our home, from the initial remodel to later improvements. We participated in a green remodeling pilot program. Our goal was to make the house as energy efficient and eco friendly as possible at the lowest reasonable cost. The house is a 1918 bungalow in South Minneapolis. The project was started in Dec 2007. We moved in April 2008. Just recently, we received a Silver Greenstar rating for our home. This past winter, our highest gas bill was $143, which we consider quite low. Year round our utility bills are low and our house is very comfortable. The efficiency measures are definitely paying off. In June 2010, we installed a solar electric system, which provides our home with carbon-free electricity.

Thanks! We relied heavily on the Sherwin Williams historic palettes. They have an Arts and Crafts palette.

Living room and sunroom- Empire Gold

Dining room- Roycroft Adobe and Peristyle Brass separated by wainscot.
Kitchen and hallway- Buckram Binding with Relic Bronze trim
Stairs, upstairs inglenook- Hubbard Squash and Sunbeam Yellow with Otter trim.
Upstairs bath- Chrysanthemum
Upstairs bedroom- Sunbeam yellow and a light grey/brown with Otter trim.
