MAY 2012 Notes

Welcome to the Greenville North Carolina's quilters social guild site. We are a group of 60 women who meet monthly and in small groups during the weeks of the month. We're beginners to advanced fiber artists with a love of quilting; be it the kind your grandmother loved, to the highest artistic endeavors of the fabric kind. Please join us and discover the delights and satisfaction of the quilters' life. Contact our president, Carol Nisbet if you are interested in joining our group! We'd love to assign you a "quilting buddy" and welcome you to our guild! Email: cdaisyflower@aol.com.

The Greater Greenville Quilt Festival was a smashing success, thanks to all who put their heart into the show by volunteering their time and efforts for four days of preparation, presentation, and clean up. Over 300 people enjoyed the display and voted for best of show, and first in each category. it was a wonderful coordinated display of cooperation of all GQG members. Thanks a million, in particular to Betty Wheatley and Vicki Harrell, show co-chairs, and those who "manned" the booths at the show. Take a look in the upper right corner of our page here, and see the fabulous "Viewers' Choice" winning quilt made by Betty Wheatley! We appreciate all efforts, and hope the approaching summer finds you time to relax, do a little sewing, and enjoy your vacations!

We had a wonderful experience at the Tea presented by the Green County Needle Workers in Snow Hill.... these ladies really know how to put on the Ritz; each brought their own fine china, silver settings, crystal, English tea pots, and put on a fabulous day of sharing. Ladies, we appreciate your genteel efforts, and you did a bang up job of entertaining those of the Greenville Guild who attended. We feel fortunate to have such a close association with such a great group of women. Thanks again for a wonderful afternoon.

We are to repeat the "Learn to Quilt Day" on June 9th, as we had so many folks who wished to participate in March we were unable to teach them all in our restricted space. So we're going to do it again, and we know it will be just as much fun for us as it was in March. Please let Neel Carson know if you are able and willing to volunteer a few hours at the Craft Center on that saturday. Any wishing to participate should let her know by our May 10th meeting. Thanks in advance.

Summer is fast approaching, and already the air conditioners are humming. If you are like me, I am taking time to clean and organize my sewing room after our quilt show, and review my UFOs, and yes, thinking about what new projects to plan. Have a wonderful relaxing and productive sewing summer. We'll be showing our results at upcoming show and tell sessions!
