Its hard to believe its been two months since we moved in and since the holidays have come and gone!! Weve settled in nicely to our new routines and weve actually found time to work off the 20lbs we may or may not have gained in the last year!!!  And with all this extra time Ive had I started looking back through out pictures and blogs.  And Im glad that gregs discouraging looks at 3am while im up typing blogs did not deter me... I am so glad to be able to look back at our progress as well as my crazy blogs that remind me of the ups and downs of the last year.  I had to laugh at how naive i was when we first began this process and its amazing that weve managed to "finish" it.  Though there are still a few things to left to do- I can count on one hand whats left and that in and of its self is amazing!! Thats the story for now... Were just enjoying cooking and hanging out, decorating the house and working on ever so often.  Hope all is well with everyone!

But for those of you who just cant NOT read my wonderful blogs.  I just copy and pasted the Holiday greeting.  I realized that I should have saved them all along because those along with the blogs below are our journal from the last year and I am sad that I am actually missing them now.  Anyways like i said, no need to read, ill blog in the next entry :)

 

Tis the season to be so so grateful for all life's wonderful gifts.  Our year has been full of memories captured in the pictures below and will definitely never be forgotten.  I cant believe what we learned about building/owning a house, each other and ourselves.  Its been a long long road but definitely one with a beautiful rainbow at the end.  Most importantly we have eachother.  With the holidays coming and going in the blink of an eye, and our house rennovations quickly coming to an end (for now) We just want to take a second to tell everyone we love, a little thank you for your love, support and encouragement.  Our move in date will be announced for definitely in a few weeks. Dec 26, 2009 was our first night in the house!!!  There was still an inch of dust on everything and the carpets werent in yet... but we moved some stuff in and nicky came to celebrate our first night in the house with dinner and an islanders game.  The week between christmas and new years was crazy unpacking and cleaning days.  My dad and Chels came to spend some a few days with us this week as well and that was wonderful to have some of my family around.  New years eve we had our first celebration in our new house to ring in the new year... It was wonderful to have our family all around to bring in the new year and have the first spill on our new carpet!! Needless to say we've settled in quite nicely in our new home and we love being here. We really miss having Sandy, Gary and Giz around but were doing well.  Theres still quite a few things to do around here and from what im told it never end :( But were at a much slower pace to start 2010 and thats ok with us.  So Happy New year everyone we hope its as enjoyable and safe year!! We love you all!

So yesterday, Greg's dad told him that the house would be DONE this coming week.  Words Ive been waiting to hear everyday for the last year!  Floating on cloud nine for 2 days now is amazing.  Our windows were installed, we picked our carpet, and our countertop is being installed.  Holidays are always such a wonderful time ofyear as it, and with the 1 year anniversary of owning our house coming up, even more so making this time of the year wonderful, BUT more than we could ever ask for now, were so close and now we can finally move into this house we've been building and make it a home. Which makes me want to bust at the seems!  I cant believe Greg and I have actually made it through this year, its been soo soo tough and it was like nothing we could have ever inticipated.  But that which does not kill us, makes us stronger...and today weve never felt so strong.  But we didnt get here alone.  Thank you to are amazing families who are always our biggest supports, To sandy and Gary for letting us live with them for the last 2 1/2 years despite only having one bathroom and our crazy child who eats through bags of lentils :( Were not going to know what to do withoutyou guys or Gary to take out our garbage. Thank you Mom, Tony, Dad, Amy and Parkie for your unwavering love, support, encouragement and constant answers to our new homeowner questions... We hate that you are so far away but you are always close in our hearts and we love you so much. Thank you Greg Sr., Nick, and John for your hard work and devotion.  There are no words to explain how much we could NOT have done this without you guys.  Despite the arguements, and the freezing cold, and no bathroom for 3+ months you guys were always by our sides and its your blood, our sweat and my tears that built this home for us to continue on our journey through life together.  And to everyone else we love and means the world to us, Thank you for being our constant source of support and encouragement.  Happy holidays to everyone we love and we cant wait to see you all for a wonderful housewarming party!!

Ok so I really suck... For anyone who knows anything about me (which I do hope thats the only people checking this) I am a complete KLUTZ.  I FINALLY managed to break my camera, and a few weeks later I managed to get our other camera stolen :( needless to say Greg is not very happy with me, and hence the reason the picture updates have been lacking.  BUT that doesnt mean that updates are any less frequent.  Our spare bedroom upstairs is just about finished.  Its all painted, and the boys have 2 out of 3 doors up in the closet.  The only thing left is to spackle and paint the closet!!  Our countertop is going to be installed in about a week.  We have 3 new windows coming to be install shortly.  And I think most exciting.... The very last room  that needed to be spackled is the living room and its ALMOST DONE!!! which means moving in is not too far away.  Anyways, as soon as I can i will add more pictures.  You can check out the new section added by shutterfly of recent activity which will show my updates in order or continue to follow each rooms progression in their individual folders.  Thanks for checking back, Happy Early Thanks giving and for all your love and support... Wow so many little changes have taken place in the last month its hard to keep up with.  Greg has been busy putting up moulding everywhere (and let me tell you, if I see another rosette I might kill somebody!) While Greg Sr. has been busy finishing the upstairs bedroom.  Ive been staying on top of the leaf/acorn situation we have going on and doing a little painting here and there.  Countertop is in the works as well as new windows, were still waiting on the washer and dryer, and I do believe the bathroom is actually finished.  All in all very little (yet still tons) left to do!  Enjoy the pictures, Love Erin&Greg

Yes, I have a checklist... several infact... because Im just that insane.  But I have noticed weve been able to check many things off lately... From finishing painting the master bedroom and the halls, to installing lights and doors.  We have heat (and let me tell you its already cold in that house which took us right back to January last year without any heat!) While there is still a million little things to do everyday were getting a little closer as we approach our house's 1 year anniversary!  Lots of family updates... Parkers 2nd birthday is coming up quickly Nov. 9th.. I cant believe hes already 2... actually hes insane... I can believe it... Jackie is expecting beautiful baby #2 in the spring.  And on a much sadder note, Sue unexpectedly lost her daughter.  But with all good news and bad, we are a family and such is life with ups and downs.  Most important is that we have eachother to lean on in good times and bad.  So thanks everyone for supporting us with all of our good times and the bad.  Lovelovelove, Erin and Greg 

As I previously stated, updates would be few and far between.  Although a lot has been happening at the house, the pictures cannot reflect it all.  Most importantly the heat was installed recently (despite the 95+ degree temperatures outside!).  As for the kitchen, we hit a slight bump in the road when we installed the fan and realized it would not be nearly enough light.  Greg was able to change out the lighting a little bit and add some under cabinet lights which are absolutely beautiful.  Its also been painted.  A counter top and another room down!! Dining room is primed and ready for paint and Nick hung the chandelier.  Another room oh so close to being done.  The bathroom still awaits a door.  The back bedroom closet is painted and the washer and dryer should be delivered shortly.  It still needs windows and paint but again small feets.  Living room and bedrooms upstairs have seen less changes.  Still in need to spackle, paint and carpet. 

So summer is always a busy time.  Lots of family, friend and good times.. Hope your summers have been as fun and love filled as ours.  As mentioned before we started off the summer in Mexico, then I went off to newport for a little girls weekend with Greg's cousin.  Alexandra was christened the following weekend, and July was full of Family visits.  So finally I have time to update, although its seems everyone who checks the site has recently been to the house and seen the newest additions.  So here we go as for house updates.  As far as pictures, I found some more old pictures of the house during the inital rennovations so I added them, be sure to flip through and check them out.  Its also fun to start at the very picture and flip backwards see the very beginning back to back with the most recent pictures.  But most recently.  The bathroom is only awaiting a door and the fixtures in the tub and we are almost ready to take showers.  The kitchen has all the cabinets and the floors are done.  We are waiting for the appliances to be delivered so we are able to get measured for our countertop.  They said once they measure that it would be installed within a week!  The boys are cutting into the house to install the ACs.  I promise you there will be NO pictures of that or of anything thats happened to the house while there are holes in the walls.  I cant handle it, sorry.  The floor in the back bedroom is tiled and walls are spackled and I believe ready for paint?? Ive been attempting to spackle the closet upstairs.. Keyword attempting.. and I believe I just make more work for the boys :) anyways.  Pictures and updates will  be coming less and less from now on. There isnt much  more that I am able to do out there.  So as the rooms start to finish up well be updating.  but it looks like painting and carpets are the last few things we need to do.  Thanks for all your love and support.  And visits for those who came to see us in the past few weeks <3

Lots and lots of craziness going on at the house!!  Room by Room update: 

Dining room: Still needs the AC put in, finish the sheetrock then we can paint and finish the floors.

Kitchen: Needs the tile put down, cabinets, appliances, countertop, and paint!

Bathroom:Just need to finish grouting the tub, install the countertop and a door and were done!!!

Living Room: Well we cant do much to the living room yet because all the tools, sheetrock and other crap is in there but its ready to be primed and painted I think.  And a new carpet!

Computer room: Weve been spackling in here as much as possible.  We have one more piece of sheetrock to put up.  Weve tiled the closet. Just needs a carpet, paint, doors, and install the Washer and dryer.

Master Bedroom: Its been spackled.  The AC needs to be installed. It needs to be painted and a new carpet.

Spare Bedroom: So I attempted to spackle the closet.. Key word attempted. It also needs an AC but has been spackled and needs paint and a carpet. 

Outside:  The landscaper people are suppose to be coming this week sometime to clean up the leaves.  However, I think were holding off on the pool and actually landscaping until next year.

 

And thats it.  Really not much left to do but still not estimated move-in date. 

Well all the hard work is visibile by greg snoring SO SO loudly next to me (poor kid is beat!) as I blog at 3am.. but we all know I dont sleep so why not update the website??  But first we have to say Welcome Carley Caliendo and Congratulations John, Susan and Maddison.  We love you all!  Ok now for updates.  So much again has changed im not even sure where to start.  Bathroom I guess, is where weve focused most of the work because well weve been working on the house for 5 months without a bathroom.  Yes, its gone as far as you can imagine it has and Im ready for the boys to have a toilet again!  The tile is just about done and now were just waiting on the walls, which were having a hard time making a decision about. Our downstairs bedroom has also seen a nice facelift since the boys destroyed it the last time I went away.  I helped the boys insulate (yes really, I know I kick ass) and they just about have the sheetrock up in there.  maybe floors soon??  And well then there is our kitchen.  So the cabinets are probably going to delivered while were in mexico for Justin and Lori's wedding because thats our luck.  But its our birthdays and their special days so cabinets will have to wait!!! We have a little less than 3 weeks before we leave and theres a lot to do.  The boys found that the floor was sagging or water damaged or something soooooo goodbye floor!  Really, Im not sure there is ANYTHING left to go... wait the carpets have to come up yet in 2 rooms... cross your fingers...  I also insulated the kitched (go me!) so as soon as we have a floor in there we can sheetrock.  Then its cabinets, countertop and we can finally get our new appliances!!! My parents are a pain in my ass... and aparently I dont update this site enough.  MAYBE if someone made it to NY to see the house in person I WOULDNT have to update it every 3 minutes.  Nothing but love though :) haha anyways.  Happy Easter everyone!! I spent the week with my family upstate and Greg joined us at the end of the week to celebrate the holiday.  We had lots of fun, but really missed our family back in LI.  While I was gone the boys decided to destory the kitchen, take out the rest of the walls in the back bedroom and the stairwell.  GREAT!! Just kidding I guess it needed to be done, just wasnt mentally perpared for it while I was on vacation.  Gregs mom and I plan to tackle the yard more this week while shes on vacation and were continuing to make progess.  Keep check back for pictures.  Tile should be going up in the bathroom soon :-D

As winter turns to spring its seems the nice weather has helped boost the boys motivation.  As always they are working hard most nights but with summer just around the corner I think they are putting a little more umph into it.  March 16th marks 3 months of owning our house and so much has changed, its almost hard to believe.  We bought all the appliances for the kitchen (and going to be starting that crazy project shortly), our washer and dryer, tile and wainscot for the bathroom.  They finished rewiring the whole house for electric, cable and internet making all the special boxes for their toys... The washer and dryer are plumbed to be in the downstairs room and despite a few glitches along the way (all of our water pipes bursting) things seem to be progressing quickly.  The sheetrock is just about complete and i suppose that means time to do the heat? Perfect timing now that the house is warming up and semi-tolerable. But I truly cant believe the transformation though, it looks amazing.

So little by little the house is quickly coming back together.  The dining room is finished being insulated and walls are starting to go up there.  New lights and brackets for the fans have gone up in the living, but we still need to reinsulate that room.  The boys are putting in the bathtub tonight :) and replaced the window in the bathroom as well.  The bedrooms are also coming along nicely.  The boys did a fantastic job rewiring the whole house as well as putting up new lights in each of the upstairs bedrooms.  They also finished framing out the closet in the spare bedroom and lit the closet, which is awesome.  Walls have also started to go up in that room as well.  I (yes I said I) insulated the bedroom walls in the master bedroom and hopefully we can finish those rooms soon.  Were waiting for the roof to be finished before we can more forward with much more of the walls and whatnot but they seems to keep busy.  Hope you guys are enjoying the pictures!

Were back from our florida/snowboarding vacation, a little sore and a lot ready to continue to make progress on the house.  While we were away Greg Sr. and Nick (and possibly John?) did some work out at the house, putting up the bathroom walls, insulating the floor and finishing the floor upstairs as well and reconstructing the walls.  Today we put in the highhats in the living room & made the holes for the fans. Im sure they did more, however, I was freezing and didn't stick around to find out what else!  Sunday, the guy is suppose to be coming to check out the roof.  Once we fix that Im hoping well be able to put up the walls.  Also, I underestimated the work that needed to be done and am probably underestimating this as well.  Cross your fingers that weve managed to find/fix everything!! We also wanted to welcome Alexandra Cali Bosco to the family<3 Congrats to the new parents!!

So, our day off today of movies and chinese food turned into 3 hours at Home Depot, a million other errands and another 5 hours on-line trying to find all the parts to the bathroom that we wanted... But its only 2:20am and we finally finished.  We picked out the marble for the floor, and all fixtures and the sink.  The only thing left is to decide on a counter top (I hope!).  Maybe soon our bathroom will be done and useable.  We also sat down with the HD kitchen designers and worked out a kitchen which was kind of fun and kind of crazy and even more frustrating since its going to be 2 years before we can ever START the kitchen (I refuse to have yet ANOTHER wall be torn down in our house... why it matters at this point im not really sure but it does!) But anyways thats the story for now!! Well, we closed on our house Dec. 16th, 2008, just in time for Christmas.  Since then, Greg and I and his entire family have been working day and night at the house to update it.  Greg, Nick, and John have done an awesome job updating the electricity, putting in new lights and switches, making our bathroom bigger and making a lovely double closet!!  What started as gutting the bathroom as our first renovation, quickly turned into gutting the whole house.  After two dumpsters and minimal breaks for the holidays weve been able to almost complete gut the house in the 3 weeks we've owned it (SCARY!).  The first set of pictures is our progress (minus documentation of the tears, fights and good times) until now with the destruction!  The boys did a big shop late this week and are going to start resheetrocking (if thats acutally a word) and insulating.  Thanks to everyone for all your love and support.   Thanks to Nicky, and John and Big Greg for all your hard work.  You guys are doing an awesome job and we love you lots!
