GS Camp Polly Poons - gscamppollypoons

ABOUT US

Camp Polly Poons (CPP) is a summer day camp for girls hosted by the Forsyth West Service Unit of Girl Scouts of Greater Atlanta.  Camp activities include arts and crafts, swimming, canoeing, and archery.

The camp provides an outdoor camp experience which supports the Girl Scout mission of building girls of courage, character and confidence who make the world a better place.

The camp is named after an African Grey Parrot named Polly Poons who was owned by the founder of Girl Scouts, Juliette Gordon Low.

CPP WELCOMES GIRLS WITH TYPE 1 DIABETES

The staff at Camp Polly Poons would like to encourage girls living with Juvenile Diabetes to join us this summer.   Girls must be able to self-manage their care but adults, camp aides and the camp nurse are available to assist.  Contact dhpriest@bellsouth.net if you have any questions or concerns.

WHO MAY ATTEND CAMP POLLY POONS?

Girls who will be in Kindergarten -7th grade in the Fall of 2014 may attend Camp Polly Poons as campers.  Girls do not have to be registered Girls Scouts to participate in all of the fun.  In addition, we provide camp activities for pee-wees (4 year old girls and boys who are potty trained) and boys (rising K-8th) who are accompanied by an adult volunteer.

Girls who will be in 8th-12th grades in the Fall of 2014 may participate as Camp Aides (CATS).  Camp Aides assist in planning and hosting camp.  Girls are required to attend special training and to attend several planning meetings before camp.

Rising 7th and 8th Grade boys attending with an adult volunteer will be expected to act as camp counselors for the younger boys.

ADULT VOLUNTEERS ARE NEEDED!

Thirty adult volunteers are needed at Camp Polly Poons in order to meet the required girl/adult ratio.  In addition, we need adults trained in archery, life guarding and small water crafts to assist with camp activities.

Camp fees for girls whose parent volunteers for a full week are $20 for the first girl and $45 for each additional girl.  The fee for pee-wees and boys is only $25. Adults may volunteer for less than one week and receive a $10 per day per girl discount.

Please email dhpriest@bellsouth.net if you would like to be one of our volunteers.  We cannot have camp if we do not have enough volunteers.

Thank you for your consideration! Volunteers have lots of fun at camp, too!
