Welcome

Before & after Gustave.   At least 4 hours of 90 mph winds.  Worst storm to hit Baton Rouge since Betsy in the 60's.

We were fortunate that the front elm tree did not fall on the house or damage the cars when it fell.

We were again fortunate when the juniper tree in the side yard missed hitting the carport.  This tree was about 40 feet tall.

Chris worked and worked, and by the 4th day after the storm, both trees were cut and removed and piled by the road.

We lost power for 6 days; had a generator that enabled us to run a couple of lights, a couple of box fans, the fridge and most importantly - the coffeepot!   I was also able to wash clothes (no dryer, though), and vacuum, which we desperately needed.

In addition to what's in the pictures, we lost most of the shingles on the back side of the roof, and we lost a window-pane in one of the windows in the back of the house, when one of the gum trees snapped and hit the house.

The elm and the juniper didn't snap, they absolutely uprooted - amazing, the elm particularly since it is right next to the house.  The force of the roots coming up under the house turned over the concrete steps and the little brick walk we had leading to the steps.  It also actually moved one of the piers under the house - strange to see that thing turned.
