Kappa's Chapter Key Advisor, Dotti Shields, Named NVAPA's 2009 Panhellenic Woman of the Year

The following was taken from the NVAPA's official press release.

 

 

The Northern Virginia Alumnae Panhellenic Association (NVAPA), a non-profit organization, is pleased to announce the recipient of its 2009 Panhellenic Woman of the Year Award. The award was presented on May 6, 2009 to Dotti Shields of Phi Sigma Sigma International Fraternity. Dotti is an active member of Phi Sigma Sigma’s Northern Virginia Alumnae chapter and has held numerous positions within the chapter including president, vice president, Panhellenic delegate, membership chairman and scholarship chairman. As Panhellenic delegate Dotti has served as NVAPA’s vice president, president and as a member of the fundraising committee and scholarship committee. On a national level Dotti has served as Phi Sigma Sigma’s Colony Coordinator, Colony Supervisor, Regional Undergraduate Director, member of the extension committee, advisory board member of the Beta Alpha Chapter at the , and currently serves as Chapter Key Advisor for the Kappa chapter of Phi Sigma Sigma at the in . In her local community Dotti has served on the board of the Campagna Center of Alexandria, VA; as a mentor for the Wright to Read program in Alexandria, VA; as a mentor at Layton Hall Elementary School in Fairfax, VA; and as a volunteer for the Northern Virginia Coalition (NOVACO), an organization that provides safe housing and services to families fleeing from abuse.

 

“In all of her capacities, Dotti gives one hundred percent of herself, and in everything she does, she shows her dedication to the alumnae chapter and love of Phi Sigma Sigma,” said Tess Stovall, President of the Phi Sigma Sigma Northern Virginia Alumnae Chapter.

 

Kappa Chapter Earns "Gold Standard" at Greek Excellence Awards

At the Greek Excellence Awards on April 19th, GWU announced that the Kappa Chapter earned "Gold Standard" this year! Plus, our House Manager, Diya Rattan, earned the "House Manager of the Year" award! We couldn't be more thrilled or proud.

Congratulations to Our Newly Initiated Sisters!

Watch out GW: seventeen amazing women are now proudly walking around campus wearing our letters!! The Spring 2009 New Member Class became initiated this past Friday, April 2nd. We couldn't be happier!

$19.13 Dress Sale: A HUGE Success!

Not only did we have an incredibly fun time at the $19.13 Dress Sale, but we also raised over $1,000 for the Laura Treanor Scholarship Fund!

Announcing the $19.13 Dress Sale

Have an old formal or prom dress that you just don't wear anymore? Have a spring formal but no dress to wear to it? Then Phi Sig has great news for you!

On Friday March 27th from 5-8 pm the spring 2009 new member class of Phi Sigma Sigma will be selling each and every dress for $19.13! (Cash only)

Why $19.13 you ask?
Because 1913 is the year in which Phi Sigma Sigma was founded!

We will be collecting dresses for the sale between Monday March 23rd and Thursday March 26th from 5-7 pm at the Phi Sigma Sigma House.

All proceeds from the $19.13 Dress Sale will go toward the Laura Treanor Scholarship Fund.
