St. Patrick's Day Lucky Charms Project!

We participated in an online project by jenuinetech.com for St. Patrick's Day.  The hypothesis of the project was that there are more clovers in Lucky Charms cereal than any other marshmallow.  We counted all of the marshmallows in the box and graphed our results.  In our box of Lucky Charms we had 14 horseshoes, 60 pots of gold, 64 clovers, 30 stars, 34 moons, 43 rainbows, 20 hearts and 36 balloons.  In our box, there WERE more clovers than any other marshmallow, so the hypothesis was correct.  To see more information about the project  and world wide results click here http://www.jenuinetech.com/Projects/st2010/sp2010_home.htm

Read Across America Day (a few days late...)

We had so much fun celebrating Read Across America Day, even though we did it after the wonderful snow!  We had a special morning snack of "blue goo" and "pink ink"!  We also had cool classroom visitors throughout the day.  Mrs. Roberts came and read my favorite Dr. Seuss book, Horton Hatches the Egg, to the class.  After reading Bartholomew and the Ooblek, we made our own gooey, green ooblek.  Mrs. Emerson visited while we were making ooblek and talked with our class about the difference between solids, liquids, and gases.  Throughout the day we also read Fox in Socks, Gerald McBoing Boing, and Dr. Seuss (a Rookie Biography).  Mrs. Cheri read us her favorite Dr. Seuss book, Yertle the Turtle.  After discussing A Fish Out of Water (not written by Dr. Seuss, but tons of fun), we made a goldfish graph out of colored goldfish crackers.  Check out the pictures above to see some of the fun!
