Smart Kids
Why is it that Monday morning looks like you never cleaned your house for a month when in reality you just cleaned it on Saturday to prepare for the sabbath? Well, being a Monday, you can imagine the work I had to do, however, my children needed and wanted some attention from mom as well. Jacob had brought me some brain teaser cards wanting me to ask him the questions to see how "smart" he is. Kylie wanted to play as well, so I made a deal with them. I would ask them the three questions on one card. If they got them all right I would have to do one chore, if they missed one of them, then they would have to do a chore. We started this little game in the Kitchen, and who do you think ended up cleaning most of the kitchen? ME! I had no idea how smart my kids were!! They would get them all right and then giggle as they told me what chore I had to perform. Who knew that Jacob, my 3 year old, knew about mixing two colors to make another color! I ended up washing all the dishes, cleaning and wiping down counters, fridge, cupboards, table, and sweeping and mopping. They missed very few and only had to pick up a few things off the floor! I was actually quite happy to see how SMART my children are and it was fun to clean too!
Best Pair of Socks I ever bought!
So, Friday, March 19th 2010, was a celebration for my little cousins baby, Ella Woodruff. We were invited to Bounce Jungle in Chandler Arizona to bounce away for a couple of hours. Our admission was covered, all we needed to do was show up. Well, Kaitlyn was sick that day, so Ken came home and watched her while I took Jacob and Kylie to have some fun.
I knew the kids were suppose to wear socks, and not realizing that the adults could also jump away I decided to just wear some flip flops, no socks needed. When we got there and I saw parents having fun with their kids jumping down huge slides and laughing and playing with their little ones, my heart dropped a little that I didn't wear socks! I encouraged Kylie and Jacob to go and have fun and they went to play. However, Jacob lost interest pretty fast and I felt that I should go ask the front desk if they had any socks I could use, sure enough, they sold some for $2. I bought them and put those socks on and then magic happened! Jacob's face lit up and all of a sudden I was right in the middle of all the fun, sliding, jumping and chasing my children around. It truly was a great time with them.
Simply the magic of ordinary days coming to life! That is a memory that was created and will stay with me forever and hopefully my children too. As soon as we got home the kids chatted away about how much fun they had and how mom was the tickle monster and tried to catch them in each of the bouncy items. I thank my dear cousin for giving me the opportunity to have some fun with my kids during a very hectic week! And I must say, it was the best pair of socks I have ever bought!
