HART RANSOM HEAT - B9/10 - hartransomheat

This game was to be played on Wednesday June 15th as our final game. However, Hughson's coach contacted Coach Selover telling him he was unable to reach all his players to play this game and forfeits the game. Giving us our 13-1 record...(but we had it anyways!!) LOL!!

The Hart Ransom Heat played their final game of the season on a VERY warm Monday evening at Modesto Christian. It was a great game, and all the kids were AWESOME!!!!!!!!! Lots of great things happened in this game as you will read.  And a special thank you to all the parents for snacks/drinks and help with the coaches gifts. Special thanks for this game snacks supplied on the fly by Doug Boone who wasn't signed up for snacks...but had them for the kids anyways! VERY much appreciated Doug!!! :)

1st inning offense: 1st up at bat Ryan Bettencourt hit a DOUBLE, next up Bryan Perez hit a single ... NOTE: RYAN BETTENCOURT STOLE HOME DURING Bryan's at bat. Grant Wise was up next and was walked to 1st on balls. NOTE: BRYAN PEREZ STOLE HOME during Grant's at bat..and slid into home plate (hurting his finger...but toughed it out and played the entire game!) Gunnar Selover next up at bat struck out; Dylan Soto next up had a RBI ground out to first (getting Grant in safe). Angel Arellano next up hit a NICE DOUBLE; Aiden Armstrong next up hit a RBI SINGLE, (getting Angel in) .. Quincy Garan was up next getting walked to first on balls, and then "D" (Donevan Patch) hit a RBI double (getting Aiden in) which was our 5th run of the inning, Inning ended with 2 outs due to maximum allowed runs per inning of 5.

Blake Boone up first was walked onto base , Ryan Bettencourt then hit a SWEET DOUBLE, Bryan Perez hits a RBI Sac to first (getting Blake in safe and sound...and a nice slide Blake :) - ) Grant Wise was then walked onto 1st, Gunnar Selover walked onto base, bases now loaded, Dylan Soto hits a RBI single (getting Ryan in safe), Angel Arellano was hit by pitch and walked to base, bringing Grant in. Aiden Armstrong hits a RBI single (getting Gunnar in), Quincy hits a 2 RBI double (getting Dylan and Angel in); Donevan hit a single, Michael hits a 2 RBI double getting Quincy and Donevan in; Justin Jackson HITS a SAC infield hit to 1st getting out, but scoring another run.... I just wanted to say some things I can't remember as they happen during the game...there just isn't enough boxes on the scorebook to log.
These outfielders were off the hook in this game. The MC kids hit quite a few hits into the outfield and the boys out there STOPPED the play from continuing...by not allowing those hits to be anymore than a single!! Michael Gross, Ryan Bettencourt, Aiden Armstrong, Blake Boone, Donevan Patch, Justin Jackson,Grant Wise,  Angel Arellano. These boys have done such a FABULOUS job...and then they get moved infield to mix things up and -- WOW!!!! They did great in there too! Ryan Bettencourt is normally our 1st baseman, also pitches great, and now...we know he can field like nobody's business too! TRIPLE THREAT! LOL!! Our infielders/pitchers/ catchers all did a phenomenal job all season too! Ryan Bettencourt typically at 1st or pitching, Bryan Perez usually shortstop, Grant Wise pitcher, 2nd base, shortstop; Gunnar Selover pitcher, 2nd base, catcher; Dylan Soto pitcher, 3rd base; Angel Arellano also outfields and 3rd base, and pitcher, Aiden Armstrong outfield, and also a heck of a 1st baseman!!!; Quincy Garan outfield and also a heck of a shortstop; Donevan Patch amazing outfielder making plays to 2nd and amazing at 2nd base; Michael Gross amazing catching and every single outfield position (and definitely the VOICE of the team) ; Justin Jackson great catcher, 3rd base and outfielder; and the amazing Blake Boone who has come so far this year... stops the ball when he gets to play 2nd, baseball ready and getting the outfield hits when outfielding, and just a pure joy to watch a positive attitude and always happy :)

Now we are up to the 2nd half of the double header the kids faced on a VERY warm Saturday afternoon at Calvary Temple. Amazing the strength and drive the kids showed to play this 2nd game. Fully loaded and ready to take on Calvary Temple!!

1st inning offense: 1st up Ryan Bettencourt gets walked to 1st after facing a full count (nice at bat RY RY!), Bryan Perez up next hits a double; Grant Wise gets walked to base (loading the bases!!!). Up next Gunnar Selover hits a infield popfly to the shortstop getting the 1st out.

But I have to tell you about it..because Michael Gross totally made it exciting for both teams!!
Michael was first up at bat and walked on to base. Justin Jackson was struckout, (and by this time Michael had stolen his way to 3rd!). Blake Boone now up at bat gets a called strikeout , however... Michael Gross is trying to get the catcher to try to throw him out leading off of 3rd, starting a pickle that lasts back and forth from pitcher to catcher and Mikey trying to get to that base!! I've never cheered or laughed so hard seeing these kids trying to make a play of it!!! Great job Michael!!! Nice way to end the game, on a positive note with some PICKLE PLAY! Loved , loved, loved it!

Dylan Soto then hit a RBI single (batting Bryan in). Angel Arellano was struck out, Aiden Armstrong was then walked, Michael Gross was also walked to base. Grant and Gunnar both scored runs on walks. Justin Jackson batted great, but was struck out.. BUT GREAT JOB AT BAT, as well as Blake Boone...great swings boys....way to get at that pitcher!!!

Grant Wise was struck out next. 3rd batter up Gunnar Selover hit a HOMERUN!!!!!!!!!!! Way to go Gunnar!! Up next Dylan Soto also hit on the 2nd pitch thrown to him, however he also grounded out getting the 3rd and final out of the inning. Total runs this inning = 1

1st inning defense: Pitching Gunnar Selover/Catching Michael Gross:
After allowing only 1 hit in the first, Gunnar struck out the second batter, the 3rd batter hit the ball to 3rd and was thrown out in an awesome 5-3 for a 2nd out! Way to go Dylan and Ryan!!
Fourth batter up for MC was struck out swinging by Gunnar!! Great 1st inning Gunnar and HR defense!! WTG!!! Only one run was allowed this inning by the defense as the run was stolen in by 1st batter in inning.

1st inning offense: The boys were ready to swing against a team that can pitch: Bryan Perez was first up, hitting the 3rd pitch thrown at him, and it was a beautiful hit; but sadly popped up and was caught by MC's shortstop. Nice hit Bryan :)   Ryan Bettencourt was up next, who nailed a saaaaaaaaaaaweeeeet double! (nice one Ry Ry). Grant was struck out (but swinging) at some nice pitches, and very nice swings by Grant. Gunnar hit an RBI single (getting Ryan in). The Hart Ransom Heat took on visiting Our Lady of Fatima Vikings for their weekend home game played at Modesto Christian on a cloudy cold spring morning.  And ... THEY WON!!! Keeping their undefeated status going... beating the Vikings 10-4!

1st inning Defense: Starting off the game in pitcher position was Gunnar Selover, and backing home plate was Michael Gross. Gunnar started off a stellar inning, striking out three of the 6 batters he faced (last batter not swinging).

1st inning offense: Ryan Bettencourt was walked onto 1st, then up next -- Grant Wise knocked in a HUGE 1 RBI TRIPLE!!! That ball was going, going, ... ALMOST GONE!! AWESOME HIT GRANT!!!! Batting next Gunnar Selover had a Sac / fielders choice getting our 2nd run in (Grant). Way to go Gunnar !!!!  Dylan Soto was walked onto base, and ultimately stole his way all the way HOME!! Giving us 3 runs for the 1st inning!!!  (TOTAL RUNS this inning = 3)

2nd inning defense: Dylan Soto pitched the 2nd inning, backed at the plate by Michael Gross.
1st of all, I have to mention something special about our catcher Michael... HE CAN MAKE SOME NOISE!!! Whether he is at catcher, or in outfield, anywhere..(heck...he could be on another field) he makes SURE his team mates are paying attention and knows where the plays are at... Just love to hear him!!!   Ok, now back to the inning: Dylan struck the 1st batter, walked the 2nd, and struck out third and forth batters in this inning. Keeping the Vikings scoreless. Nice pitching Dylan!

2nd inning offense: The Vikings pitcher #29 (Ken) was on his game. He struck out 3 of our next 4 batters, and walked Donevan. We scored 0 runs this inning (Runs scored this inning = 0)

3rd inning defense: Angel Arellano started off the 3rd inning pitching: And Dylan Soto pitched to the last 5 of the inning. Angel struck 1 of his 5 batters out  (not swinging), 2 BB, & 1 HP. Dylan then came to the mound and got the 2nd strikeout, then had 1 BB, and 2 HP. Then after the Vikings had scored 4 runs, getting his 3rd strikeout!! Whew...that was a hard but educational inning for the Heat, however...they stayed strong and focused and worked their way out of it. Way to go boys!!! And never ever get down when these things happen...THEY HAPPEN ... look at the major league..it happens all the time. You just stay focused, let it slide and believe in yourself and your team mates. That is what makes a champion!!! NEVER GIVE UP!

3rd inning offense: The bottom of the 3rd started a little rough with two strikeouts on our batters, however: this really was the best pitcher our kids have faced ALL SEASON! Props to #29 of Lady of Fatima's Vikings...he's a tough pitcher and should hold that head up high!
After striking out our first two batters, they walked Brian Perez, Ryan Bettencourt, & Grant Wise. Brian & Ryan both stole home, giving us 2 runs for the inning. (TOTAL RUNS THIS INNING = 2)

4th inning defense: Back on the mound for the top of the 4th was Dylan Soto, and backing the plate is Michael Gross. Dylan struck out the 1st batter, walked the 2nd, and then struck out the 3rd and 4th batters..allowing NO RUNS in the 4th inning for the visiting Vikings.

4th inning offense: our offensive inning was stopped on runs, not outs. We only scored 1 out in this inning, however: 8 of our 9 batters were walked to base, giving us the max allowance of runs per inning of 5.  (Total Runs this inning = 5)

OPEN INNING -  5th Inning DEFENSE: starting at the mound for the 5th inning was Angel Arellano (who also pitching the beginning of 3rd). 1st inning defense: Leading the Heat defense...starting pitcher for the game was Grant Wise. Grant struck out 3 of the first 5 batters, allowing only 1 run in the inning! Backing the plate at catcher was Michael Gross.  WAY TO GO GRANT!!!!!

2nd inning Offense:  Starting off the inning, Michael and Blake were both walked on base. Up next Brian Perez hit a 1 RBI single, (knocking Michael home safe). Following Brian, Ryan and Grant were both walked onto base and then up comes Gunnar again, hitting another 2 RBI single!! WTG GUNNAR! Batting next with 2 runners on base, Dylan hit a 2 RBI single. We actually scored 6 runs on this inning, but are only allowed to count the first 5. (6 runs scored in 2nd, can only score 5 per league rules).


2nd inning defense: Grant Wise was up on the mound again, (and in great form I might add); having a 1,2,3 inning, by striking out the first batter, and the following two batters having pop flies. The first pop fly caught by Brian Perez!! What a catch!!!! Way to go Brian! And is if that wasn't exciting enough... the 3rd batter up, popped up to the infield again, and our amazing 1st baseman on duty Ryan Bettencourt caught the 3rd and final out of the inning..Ryan that was an amazing catch!! Proud, proud, proud of you!!!

3rd inning offense: Up first was Angel Arellano who waited for the 2nd pitch to get everyone on the edge of their seats... HE HIT AN AMAZING HOME RUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That ball was not even close to being near any of their outfielders, he sent it to the moon!!!!!!! Way to go Angel!!!
Following Angel, Aiden Armstrong was walked on to base, and stole his fair share of bases! Quincy Garan  & Justin Jackson were also walked. We had a few strikeouts in this inning, and one tag out while stealing bases. BUT A POSITIVE SCORING INNING: Total runs scored in 3rd: 3 Runs.

3rd inning defense: Heading the defense in the 3rd inning was Donevan Patch at the pitchers mound, and Justin Jackson backing the plate. Donevan struck out 3 batters in this inning (watching and not swinging) and the defense only allowed 2 runs!! Way to go Donevan and defense!!

4th inning offense: Grant Wise was first to get on base in the 4th inning with a single; followed by Gunnar Selover & Dylan Soto's also with singles. Up next comes(fresh off a HUGE homerun) ANGEL Arellano who nails a 2 RBI double getting Grant and Gunnar in safe and sound. Angel is on 2nd, Dylan on 3rd. Dylan Soto  ended up stealing home due to errors on Vikings infield. following batters Aiden Armstrong, Quincy Garan, and Donevan patch were all walked onto base resulting in Angel getting a walk in run!! Inning ended on a strikeout. Total Runs scored 4th inning = 4

4th inning defense: Next up at the pitchers mound was Quincy Garan, and backing the plate was Gunnar Selover. Quincy is pitching amazing and this is his 1st game he has pitched in! He showed pure determination and patience! So proud of ya Quincy!! 1st out was a popfly to our awesome infield ,then he also struck out 2 players, one watching , and one swinging. Only allowing 3 runs in this inning, Quincy you did amazing!!! And Gunnar did amazing at the plate as well did all the infield players during the last few innings!!! I can't remember where everyone was, but Coach Steve certainly moved everyone to new positions to make it more fun for everyone and give the other team a chance to learn as well as our team players to learn skills in other positions. That's what you call TRUE sportsmanship and teaching good examples to our kids! Thanks Coach!

5th inning -- OPEN INNING:
5th inning offense: Michael Gross & Blake Boone started our last inning being walked on base. Ryan Bettencourt hit a RBI  single bringing Michael in. NOTE: Blake stole like a thief in the night when he first got on base, stealing all the way to 3rd.. (but wait...the rest of the story to come). Blake decided it's time to steal home, and JUST LIKE THAT... Blake Boone stole home and scored a run for the Heat... WAY TO GO BLAKE!!!!!!!!!!!!! Heads up and gutsy move! Proud of you!!
Ryan Bettencourt like that idea, and guess what... RYAN BETTENCOURT decided to do the same!! Way to GO RYAN!!!!!

Gunnar Selover next up at bat, knocks in his 2nd homerun of the season.....and right up behind him, comes Dylan Soto with his 2nd homerun of the season... WAY TO GO BOYS!!!!!! I'm thinking there must have been something in the water or gatorade bottles for these kids on Wednesday night...because the ENTIRE TEAM played their hearts out, had fun, and are growing so much! I'm glad to be a parent of a Hart Ransom HEAT player :)  Total runs scored in 5th inning: 5 ..... however we cannot count them. See below.

NOTE: Game called on time - reverting score back to end of 4th inning score due to league rules. The Our Lady of Fatima Vikings did not get a 5th inning at bat due to the time constraints set by league.

The Heat just keep playing their hearts out beating Hughson in a truly exciting game on Saturday. Heading the defensive side of 1st inning was pitcher Gunnar Selover with catcher Justin Jackson at the plate. In the 1st inning Gunnar struck out the 3rd batter, then Hughsons 4th batter up got a single, grounded it to 3rd where Dylan Soto tagged the runner out getting their 2nd out. With his strong arm going, Gunnar struck up the next (5th batter).. ending the top of the 1st with NO runs :).

Offensive side of the first inning : Bryan Perez  was walked, and stole to 3rd,  and then batting 3rd -  Grant Wise hit a sweet 1 RBI Triple!!! Getting Bryan in as first run of the game. Up Next Gunnar hit a RBI single batting Grant in. Batting next, Dylan Soto hit a single, and Gunnar Selover STOLE HOME in an amazing aggressive offensive play :).  Angel Arellano, Aiden Armstrong, and Donevan Patch were also walked on base in 1st inning. Total runs in 1st inning = 4


Defensive side of 2nd inning Gunnar Selover leading the offense again with his pitching allowing one hit,  and one run. Way to go GUNNAR :)

Offensive side of 2nd inning: No runs or hits scored.

Defensive side of 3rd inning led by pitcher Dylan Soto & catcher Michael Gross at the plate. One HR allowed on first batter, and then the 2nd, 3rd and 4th batters up all struck out. Great pitching Dylan. (note: 2nd and 4th batters struck out watching).

Offensive side of 3rd inning: Ryan Bettencourt hit an AMAZING triple to lead off the bottom of the 3rd; followed by Grant  Wise being walked, a 2RBI triple by Gunnar Selover, a single  with a 1 run RBI by Dylan Soto, and a single with a 1 run RBI by Angel Arellano. Aiden Armstrong, Quincy Garan also walked in the bottom of the 3rd. Total runs scored in this inning = 4

Defensive side of 4th inning: Dylan Soto continued on mound with Michael Gross still backing the plate as catcher:  1st batter up struck out watching, 2nd batter up got a single, 3rd and 4th batters struck out swinging. VERY nice pitching Dylan!

Offensive side of 4th inning: Blake Boone, Bryan Perez, Ryan Bettencourt were all walked. Up next Gunnar Selover was walked - walking in the 1st run (Blake Boone). Up next Dylan Soto hit what he hoped would be a Grand Slam; ended up being a SAC 3 RBI !!! (being tagged out between 2nd and 3rd with a jam up running to 3rd) .. :) Way to go !!! Batting next Angel Arellano was walked. Aiden Armstrong was also walked, and was stealing bases right behind Angel Arellano. The Hughson team made an error, allowing Angel Arellano and Aiden to both steal bases all the way to HOME!!! Way to go guys :) (we could not count the final run in of Aiden due to 5 run per inning rule) however... OUR TEAM counts it ...and what an awesome play by both runners :) Truly heads up!  Total runs 4th inning = 5

OPEN INNING - Defensive side of 5th inning: Now leading our defense is Ryan Bettencourt at pitcher with Michael Gross still backing the catchers duties at plate: Ryan struck out one batter, only hit was a pop fly to 1st base. Playing with an injured leg and pure determination Ryan pitched one amazing inning... allowing only 2 runs. Way to go RYAN!!!! Another note: Gunnar Selover had his head in the game knowing exactly where the plays were at and trying to tag out runners. Way to go Gunnar!!!

This was the end to an exciting and fun game! Way to go Heat keeping that UNDEFEATED status. In the end, you all play your hearts out and we are all so proud of each and every one of you!!

The Heat kept their undefeated status while beating the Hughson team 8-4. Game called on time in open inning (5th inning) making the score revert back to 4th inning. The team was on their game through the entire game. In the 1st inning, Ryan was walked and stole his way all the way to 3rd base, as Grant was also walked to first. Dylan batted and grounded out to 3rd, but got Ryan in on our first run of the game. Pitching first and second innings was Gunnar Selover who pitched his heart out and did a fantastic job!!  Gunnar held the Hughson team  to no runs in the first inning. Bryan got a single bringing in Aiden  which scored our only run in the 2nd inning. Hughson scored 4 runs in the 2nd inning, NOTE: Gunnar struck out two batters watching and not swinging!! His pitches were amazing!
During the 3rd inning our batters were on fire. Ryan was walked to first base, and Grant hit a single. Up next, Gunnar Selover knocked in a 2 RBI Homerun!!!! WAY TO GO GUNNAR!!!!!
Dylan  was walked to 1st. Up next, Angel hit an RBI single , bringing Dylan all the way home. Aiden, Bryan and Donevan were then walked, walking in the final allowed run (5 per inning) which was Angel. 
Pitching for HR in the 3rd and 4th innings was Dylan Soto. Dylan struck all three batters up 1, 2, 3 pitching in the 3rd inning! WAY TO GO DYLAN!!!! (note: the first two strikeouts were watching and not swinging).
4th inning up at bat : Justin, Michael, and Blake were all walked to base by Hughsons pitcher. Then Ryan was walked - which scored our only run in the 4th inning.
Bottom of the 4th inning  - Dylan pitched to 4 batters, striking out the 1st and 3rd batters (not swinging) , walking the 2nd batter up, and striking out the 4th batter. Another awesome job by the HR Defense!! (score at this time is now 8-4 HR HEAT).

5th inning (open inning) started out awesome!!! 1st up at bat was Dylan who knocked in a single Home Run!!! Way to go Dylan!!!! Angel, Aiden,Donevan, & Justin  were all walked. Justins walk knocked in another run (Angel). After this, the umpires called the game on 2 hr time limit causing the score to revert back to end of previous (4th) inning; Giving Hart Ransom Heat their WINNING game of 8-4.

Backing up the previous nights game, the HEAT took the field with their game faces on. A great job done all the way around from infield to outfield, pitching, catching and BATTING!!!! What an exciting game. Game ball given to Blake Boone for his great job at batting and fielding. Way to go Boone!!! (note: Game played as our home game at Calvary due to their not being able to schedule a date on our home field).

The Hart Ransom Heat did a fabulous job on their first outing; winning with a final score of 10 runs to 6. Utilizing all the talented pitchers on the team he could, Coach Selover had a total of 7 players pitch to help the other team get more in game. Calvary Temple definitely had a fine set of umpires, and were a very nice and friendly team to play all the way around.
