Over the Holiday break Garrett and I went to Florida for our annual Christmas visit to the beach. We had a wonderful time playing at the beach, swimming in the pool and enjoying the warm Florida weather.
Garrett turned 6 years old on December 26th and we had the amazing experience of spending the day with his birthfather, Steve; grandparents, Mary and Hal; his aunt Kristina and for the first time, we met his great-grandparents, Dr. Gerald and Mrs. Gylen Brown. WOW!
Steve is currently in his PhD program at USF in Tampa, Florida and we have not seen him for some time. He was very happy to see Garrett and the feeling was mutual for Garrett. They talked of science and other important life issues, played with the robot he brought for Garrett and enjoyed each others company.
Garrett's grandparents, Mary and Hal and Aunt Kristina orchestrated the whole event. They have a family tradition of meeting the day after Christmas to have lunch with Gerald and Gaylen in Orlando. Being invited was an honor and we were thrilled to be a part of the family experience.
My sister and Garrett's Aunt Mimi came along and helped video the time we had together.
Great Granny Gaylen and Great FaFa Gerald were so fun, both in their 80s and spry and full of life, they were a joy to spend time with, funny, witty and insightful on many family history stories.
The time we had was short but the experience will be one of those life moments we always remember.
At the end of the visit and as we were leaving, Great Granny Gaylen pulled me aside. We hugged and she said, "Thank you so much for sharing Garrett with us." I nearly burst into tears.
I had to thank her for being so gracious, kind and loving; for allowing us to be a part of their family tradition. WOW! It can only be described as one of those days.
Today is my birthday, September 24th. When I wrote the first journal entry on September 4th, I was putting my intentions into words.
One of my dearest friends, Traci Cleary, continues to tell me; "Put your intentions into words, say them out loud, tell someone, and write them down. This makes them real."
On September 4th, I wrote them down for everyone to see; not just me.
Today, the intentions are a reality.
Happy Day!

A dream come true!
On my 42nd birthday and six years years after beginning the journey into becoming a HeartMommy, another dream has become a reality.
On December 26, 2002, my first dream of becoming a mother, mommy, mom, and HeartMommy happened in the most miraculous way. My son, a true Christmas gift from God, was born. He arrived on his own time, on his on day, in his own special way, but he did arrive.
His parents had chosen us to be his parents, Mom and Dad, for life. His TummyMommy was in her 8th month of pregnancy when she made the final decision to place her most precious angel up for adoption. We had made the decision to try and adopt after countless years of waiting for him to arrive. Our two families came together in November of 2002 and in December we were a combined family, with our son as the forever bond of love.
Newly named his HeartMommy, I could hardly believe that he was here. In my heart, I believed that he would arrive one day and that he did! What a wonderous, miraculous, amazing spirit. How do you describe a feeling you have never had; beyond any words or thoughts I know. Complete, is the nearest I can name.
And now in the blink of an eye, we are here, in 2008.
As I look at photos of him in his Christmas outfit, so tiny he fit into a sleigh made for a table display, my heart aches with happiness. When I see the photos of his TummyMommy and Dad, they seem so joyful in sharing in see their amazing creation. And, when I see my son, nearly 6 yrs old, in kindergarten, future Astronaut, Archeologist, Photographer and Writer, all things collide. A SuperNova!
Come along and enjoy the view!
