Yeah its me Ray ~ Just can't get off my butt and join you great guys. Do miss you all.

No excuses. I'll try to come up and maybe throw my carving knife against the wall and see if its sticks . . . LOL

The club had their Christmas social the evening of December 17, 2011 at the Independence Center in Sun City Anthem. Approximately 20 persons were in attendance and a good time was had by all. Many of the member's latest projects were displayed on a table and the level of carving was extremely good and enjoyed by all.

At the Tuesday meeting the members present were polled and all indicated they would be willing to be members of the website. I have added them to the site and hope they will all enjoy using it. I will be glad to help with any questions or help members utilize the site to get the best results for them and the club.

Rich and Greg have combined and purchased, with funds provided by SCA, through the Hobby and Crafts group, a set of H. Enlow books and practice sticks. These should help all with "getting" it right. They will be especially helpful to new carvers.

The five (5) new books ordered by Larry have arrived and are indexed and filed in the library. An index has been made of all materials owned by the club or furnished to the club courtesy of Sun City Anthem (SCA).

Five new carving books have been ordered for the Library. They should arrive around the first part of September. Larry has a listing for review at the next carving meeting.

Hey there,

Richard has put together a lsit of carving books that he would like have available for the carving club.  I'll be sorting through this list.  If you would like to put in your two bits please let me know and I'll send you the list.  If no one does, Richard will be like a kid on Christmas day! 

Joe and Marty have taken over the Chrismas Potluck this year.  If you would like to volunteer please see them.  As in years past we are seeking donations for the Christmas Raffle.  Jow will be sending our letters shortly.  The location will be the Anthem Center and the dates have yet to be determined.  I'll post once the room is booked.

Please bring any of your work you have completed in the past year.  We need to convince our wives that we are not just going out to drink beer!

As almost all of you are aware, Ray Johnson passed away a couple of months ago.  His loss will be felt by all of us as we move on with our lives.  Marty has volunteered to step up and assume the role of president.  It's a demanding job that involves leadership, courage and the willingness to buy donuts once in a while.  I'm sure he will do just fine.

One of his goals is to create a more structured training program.  To that end we will be creating a schedule of carvings and classes.  If you have ideas please bring them forward.
