February 2012 Newsletter

TRIKE-A-THON
Thank you to all the families who have already turned in the Trike-A-Thon sponsor sheet and at least $15.00 for support of your preschool.  Please ask family and friends for donations.  If we meet our goal of $600.00 we'll have a special treat for the children. 

Permission slips will go out on Friday, February 3, 2012.  They need to be brought back with at least the $15.00 donation by Thursday, February 9, 2012.

Bring your child's bike and helmet Friday morning.  February 10th.

We still need volunteers to help set up the course, to cut oranges and to help serve the snack after the Trike-A-Thon.  Let any preschool staff know if you can help. All help is greatly appreciated.

This year The Knights of Columbus organization will provide the oranges, water bottles and treat for each child.  Thank you to the Knights of Columbus for thinking of us.

CHILDREN FRIDAY MASS
The children in Ms. Shannon's, Ms. Marcella, and Ms. Doan's classroom will be going to church on the Grandparent's day, Thursday, February 2, 2012 at 9:00 a.m.  Each month after that they will attend mass the last Friday of the Month at the 11:00 a.m. children's mass.

CATHOLIC SCHOOLS WEEK
We will be doing various activities each day  during the week of January 30th.  A Schedule was sent home and is also posted on the entrance to the Preschool.

GRANDPARENTS DAY
Invitations for grandparents to come visit with us were given out last week only 5 responses were given to the preschool staff.  If any grandparents will be visiting, please let us know so we can make sure we have enough food for the reception following the mass. 

Please let your grandparents know the preschool will be performing immediately after the 9:00 a.m. mass.

Thank you to all the grandparents who came to this event!!!  We hope you had as much fun as we had!!!
(We kept all the other grandparents who were unable to attend in our thoughts and prayers.)

EXTRA SET OF CLOTHES
Please check to see if they have a complete set of clothes in their cubbies for emergencies.

LABEL   LABEL   LABEL
Please be sure to label all of the clothing or personal items that your child brings to school.  We have several jackets and lunch boxes that are alike and we want to make sure the right items go home to their correct owners. 

VOLUNTEER HOURS
Just as a reminder families are asked to do 20 hours of volunteer hours in the classroom per year.  Many families still owe many hours towards this obligation.  Records of completed hours for each family were placed in the sign in/out book.  Please look it over and let us know if something was overlooked.  Each family was provided with a form at the beginning of the year to record work that was done towards this obligation.  Please sign and return if/when hours are completed. 

Just a reminder... if you have a child in the big school you only need to complete a total of 30 hours volunteer time.  The form that was given to you lists only what you did for the preschool.  Please add these items to the total amount you have on record at the big school if you have not done so already.

There is much work that can be done in preschool to meet this obligation and would be very much appreciated.  Please talk to me or one of the teachers and we will provide you with things to do either at school or to take home.   Thank you in advance for all you do in support of preschool.

RE-REGISTRATION
Re-registration forms went out with the last big school bi-monthly packet.  These are due back as soon as possible.  There is limited spots for preschool and kindergarten so get the forms in soon.

Valentine's Day February 14, 2012 (it is a Tuesday this year)
If you would like to have your child share Valentine's Day cards, for ease of distribution, no class lists will be given to the children.  Please just put your child's name on the cards. 

So that no child feels excluded cards will be given out to all the children in the preschool.  There are now 39 children and 5 preschool staff members.  If you would like the correct spelling of the staff names.  They are: Ms. Kathie, Ms. Rosanne, Ms. Marcella, Ms. Shannon and Ms. Doan.

SPRING PICTURES -- February 14, 2012
Spring pictures will also be on Valentine's Day.  More information will be found attached to the hard copy of the newsletter on February 3, 2011.

President's Day --- February 20, 2012 ---  No School ---

October 2011 Newsletter

ITS OFFICIAL!!!
Although the results were close the favorite apple at school is Red Delicious with Granny Smith 2nd and Golden Delicious a close 3rd. 

PIZZA PIZZA
It appears everyone likes pizza and the preferred topping is plain cheese.

FALL FESTIVAL
Thank you for all of you who worked at the Fall Festival.  It is with your help that makes this event as successful as is each year.  We hope you enjoyed seeing your child on stage dancing the Twist.  They sure were adorable!!!!

HALLOWEEN
Is just around the corner.  Remember when choosing a costume for your child that they are attending a Catholic school so no witches, devils, scary masks, etc. should not be worn to school.  No weapons of any kind may be brought to school.  So please leave those at home.

HALLOWEEN PARADE
We will celebrate Halloween by having a Parade of Costumes.

PASTA FOR PENNIES
Please bring pennies or loose change to school for our Pasta for Pennies campaign for Leukemia and Lymphoma Cancer.
Campaign starts Tuesday October 11, 2011 and ends October
