I decided to give this shutterfly site a try. It's not because I feel I have such an interesting life or such profound bits of intellect that I need to must pass on, but it simply provides a place to store the tales of our family's time together and the photo illustrations that go along with them.
While I didn't particularly enjoy most of the content matter on Katy's caringbridge site (www.caringbridge.org/visit/katyhollis), I did find enjoyment in having a place of rememberance to fall back to when some days were harder than others. I enjoyed the process of writing down my thoughts, fears, hopes, and beliefs. It brought healing and inspiration to my family and I hope that others can benefit from it too.
The lessons we learn in life are never ours alone. We can share them with others, like those we read about in God's word. We can share our tales in order to encourage others in their trials, help them to avoid making needless mistakes, and provide a sense of hope.
It is my hope that each of my children and my future grandchildren will learn the power of prayer, unity, faith, family, and perseverance through the stories we share around our kitchen table, under heavy down comforters as we pile in my bed, as we sit on the front porch swing on breezy afternoons, or in the car sipping our happy hour Sonic soft drinks.
I've also come to grips with the fact that my eyesight is not the only thing that has begun to deteriorate as I have entered my 4th decade . . . my memory is fading too. I don't want to forget the ordinary things, the extraordinary things of our time together.
