Reading Story and Spelling words

This week, we will start reading Cliff Hanger in our reading book. Friday will be the reading test.

This week's spelling words are:mix, milk, smell, last, head, friend, class, left, thick, send, thin, stick, empty, glance, test dish.

Spelling Points

Spelling Points Directions

 

To earn points all work must be done neatly.

5 points

1.  For writing each word 5 times.  All words must be spelled correctly  for points.

 

2.  Alphabetize spelling words.

 

3.  Use each spelling word in sentence.  Underline the spelling word. Use proper pronunciation and capitalization.

 

4.  Pick 5 words and make word family words.  Do not pick words that there are no families too.

 

5.  Write each word and then write word with an ending.  Must do 10 for points. For example- go and going

 

6.  Write each word and tell me if it is a noun, verb, adverb, adjective, or pronoun. Must do 10 for points.

 

7.  Make  3 columns, first column is list of spelling words, middle column is titled synonyms  and the last antonyms. Fill in with at least a total of 10.

 

8.  100% on Pre-Test

 

9.  Write each spelling word, then break into syllables using a / or –

 

 

For 5 or more points

10. Making words- Pick a word and try to make as many words as you can with the letters.  You must make at least 20 words, so you may need to pick several words to make 20 words for 5 points, 30 words for 10 points, 40 or more words for 15 points.

 

11.  Write a story using all the spelling words. Please underline   each spelling word. 20 points.

Math Points

 

 Using the number of the day, create 10 number sentences that equal that number as the answer.  Example: if the number of the day is 10, all my number sentences must have an answer of 10.  11-1 + 10, etc.  Answers must be correct to earn points.  You earn 5 points for each assignment done. 

 

  1. 10 addition number sentences.

 

  1. 10 subtraction number sentences.

 

  1. 10 multiplication number sentences.

 

  1. 10 division number sentences.

 

  1. 2 word problems with the answers being  number of the day.

 

  1. 3 Money problems that have daily depositor balance as the answer.

 

  1. 4 Math fact family number sentences: eg. 2+3 + 5, 3+2= 5, 5-3= 2, 5-2=3.

 

  1. Creating  6 numbers with the number of the day in appropriate place value.

 

  1. Writing the number of the day in different forms, eg: Roman numerals, charts or graphs,  tally marks.

 

  1.  Using money values, make 6 different ways to show the number of the day;

     ex. 10 cents= 10 pennies, 2 nickels, 1 dime, 1 nickel and 5 pennies.
