LOVE BOAT ....Come Aboard 2012 Auction & Dinner Dance
The SS Holy Family left the Cardinal Stritch Dock with 300 guests, staff and crew ready to take on the night of festive activities. A magnificent silent auction tempted and won over the shoppers as they purchased fantastic Duty Free items. A fog horn sounded the call to dinner as passenger appetites, wetted by the Captain's Calypso Punch were ready to dine . As guests entered the Captain's Dining Room, they were welcomed by Holy Family's outstanding choir, assembled and greeting guests with the Love Boat Theme song. When seated, Fr. Dirkx reassured the guests "that the SS Holy Family was a stable ship in any port and on any sea...that they were in store for a wonderful night." With the padre's prayer to begin the night complete, MC's Tim Mitchell and Matt Sullivan expressed gratitude to the leaders of the parish, religious education and the school. Captain Stubing, Julie, Isaas, Gopher and Doc entered the dining room to a great ovation. This 20th anniversary of Holy Family's Auction was a very significant event.Barbara Steinmetz, librarian at Holy Family School, began the first event 20 years ago.Her husband Chris Steinmetz has been the "official bursar" for these auctions for 20 years. Barbara described what made that event fly 20 years ago and how the Dinner Dance has evolved to this point in 2012. Hundreds of people have made this possible over the years.
Past chairs were acknowledged. They were able to chair those Auctions only with the help, talent, commitment and enthusiasm of the countless people who served on Auction ~Dinner Dance committees for the past 20 years. Holy Family people joining together for the purpose of the betterment of the entire parish has resulted in many forged friendships that truly stand the test of time. To look around the dining room one could see those smiles of genuine friendships.
Matt and Tim kept us all on course through the night's LIVE AUCTION,
which was kicked off with auctioneer Dan Pronley galvanizing the crowd to bid.... and bid high they did. 33K was raised including the Stop-the-Auction appeal to raise money for two floor cleaners for the parish and school buildings. HOUSE OF PEACE THANKSGIVING MEAL BOXES
All students gathered in the gym to hear Fr. Perry,a Capuchin priest from the House of Peace, speak about the extreme need to help those in the Milwaukee community who have little or no food for this coming Thanksgiving Day.
He spoke to the children about how their generosity impacts the lives of so many families. House of Peace serves 500 families, providing food, clothing and shelter for many. They assisted families in the community who lost homes due to the summer flooding and help families during the rest of the year as well. Take a look at the photos and see every student of Holy Family School in action packing boxes for these families in need.
ANNUAL SPAGHETTI SUPPER
SLUUUURP! Those pieces of spaghetti really tasted fine....the infamous Dominic Bartolone sauce recipe was fantastic. Christopher Bartolone and the Athletic Committee did it again and served a fantastic meal. Chris's Dad, Dominic began the event years ago when he was head of the Athletic Committee at Holy Family School.
Thank you to all the volunteers who assembled Saturday to make the meatballs, those who made dessert, those who served the plates steaming with meatballs and sauce, those who were the behind the scenes people to organize this grand event. The Holy Family School kids who participate in the athletic program were our servers for the night....Thank you kids!

1st Day of School August 31, 2010
On a sunny Tuesday Morning the doors of Holy Family Parish School opened.
K4 and some K5 children spent their first day in bright colorful and friendly classrooms surrounded by their new classmates and soon to be their good friends.
They toured the school, learning where the important rooms were located....the library, gym, music room, art room and the cafeteria...AND the main office where they were
greeted by Mrs. Wagner's and Mrs. Little's warm smiles.
The rest of the student body were so familiar with the school but now they were in a new classroom with a new teacher. Unfamiliar faces were in some classrooms as we have
many new families who have joined Holy Family. Kids grew taller, some teeth fell out and some teeth grew in over the summer.....SMILES were everywhere by the end of the day...
Enjoy some photos of that first day. If you have photos from Tuesday to share, please contact the office to get the password to upload photos. We'd love to see what moments you captured.
WELCOME to all students and families! Go Cyclones! Have a great year and study hard! Remember... "If you think it, you can do it, so just put your wonderful mind to it!"
HOLY HILL TRIP
On a gorgeous Tuesday morning the 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade classes set out on a trip to Holy Hill. They walked the stations of the Cross and read short prayers at each station. Sunlight filtered through the leaves of the trees...the path was very serene. Mass was held in the upper church at 11:00, followed by a lesson on the history of the Basilica, given by one of the Carmelite fathers. The kids then gathered for lunch on the grounds. A great day with friends and teachers and parents who came along....fun time on the bus.....good memories.
Holy Family School 8th Grade Mass
At 8:05 the 8th graders left their classroom, walked to the staircase and descended to the first floor for the traditional "walk" through the halls. A tremendous applause greeted them as they passed by students and parents who lined the hallways. They proceeded to church to attend an all school Mass. Parents, alumnus of Holy Family School and parishioners were in attendance.
The ceremony and readings were arranged and delivered by the 5th grade class.
Mr. Haberman and his wife Jill played guitars. He played on his harmonica and guitar as he sang "Forever Young". We all thought it was Bob Dylan performing a concert piece. He delivered an amazing performance.
Congratulations to the Class of 2010!
Culver's was the place for dinner Tuesday night.
Culver's has a program whereby they host schools and charitable organizations and give
10% of all meals purchased on a given night to that specific organization. Holy Family was given a check for $530.80! Peter, the manager at Culver's stated it was THE BUSIEST and most attended night of any organization they had hosted.
Thank you to Linda Zukowski,Kris Brienza, and Karen Schneider for all their work to arrange this wonderful event. These women run our SCRIP program and sold Culver's cards to further support Holy Family.
The families who attended had a great time. The manager was so impressed by the number of people and their obvious friendships. We may be small in number compared to other schools but we are mighty in so many ways that truly make a difference.
7th Grade HEART LAB.....lub dub lub dub....
The 7th grade Science class has been studying the Circulatory System.
Last Friday they spent time learning about Bob Uecker's surgery that took place at Froedert Hospital. He had an ascending thoracic aortic aneurysm. This was repaired by inserting a composite dacron graft that contained an aortic valve.
He also received one bypass graft.
Then on Tuesday May 4, the students paired up and dissected a fresh cow's heart.
Anatomical landmarks and structures (aorta, ventricles, atria, epicardial fat, epicardium, coronary arteries, mitral, aortic, tricuspid and pulmonary valves) were identified.
Click on PICTURES and see the lab in action.
