HES PTO Wins $2000 from Shutterfly.com
HES PTO has won $2000 in the Shutterfly Classroom Connections Challenge!
It's a nationwide contest that rewards schools for using secure, private Shutterfly web sites to keep parents connected to what's happening in their child's classroom. This year, HES PTO has adopted the use of Shutterfly websites as a "best practice" for sharing classroom-specific information like a class-calendar, volunteer sign-up sheets, photos and more.
Nancy King (PTO Co-President) lead the initiative to use Shutterfly web sites, which have already improved class communication and increased parent involvement. Sundi Culbertson (PTO Website Manager) coordinated the set up of all 26 classroom sites (Pre-K through Grade 5) and entered HES PTO into the Shutterfly contest. Kelley O'Rourke & Mattie HIll (PTO 1st-Vice Presidents-Room Parents) and Ann Rollo (PTO Communications Coordinator) helped get the classroom sites up and running early in the school year. And, the PTO Room Parents have done a great job adding content and maintaining the sites (which are pass-word protected and viewable only by the parents of children in a specific class).
The $2000 cash prize will be awarded December 31, 2011. HES PTO will use the funds for its many activities and programs that enhance the educational experience of all HES students such as school assemblies, field trips, Science Fair, Book Fair, Service Learning projects, playground equipment and social events.
