The Horses4Heroes Halloween Party was a great success.  Thanks to everyone who helped and attended.  Even the weather cooperated.  Send us your pictures and we will add them to this site!

 

Happy Thanksgiving!  The ranch will be closed the week of Nov. 23.  Also, our Thursday Play Day on Dec. 3 will be cancelled so we can celebrate Katherine's 16th birthday!  Our weekly play day on Nov. 19th will be as scheduled from 4 to 6 p.m. and will be extended until 7 p.m. for late arrivals.  Please sign in when you arrive so we can get everyone on a horse on a first-come, first-served basis.  Thanks! 

Adult Riding:  A weekend adult riding session will be added after the first of the year.  We are planning a Sunday afternoon session. Watch this site for more information!

HorsePlay:  This program is for kids 2-6.  It is a two-hour, once a week program.  Currently we are meeting Wednesday mornings from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Each two-hour session will have a theme for the month.  Program will include riding instruction, ranch activities, games and a snack.)  HorsePlay is offered during the day, weekdays and times will vary throughout the year.  Contact us for more information.

 

Work to Ride:  This program is for kids 12 to 17 and is by invitation only.  Qualified members will be allowed to work to ride.  For example, three hours of volunteer work, chores, helping with Horse Play, weekly Play Days, etc. earns you one hour of riding time.  Members must be able to ride with minimal supervision.

Congratulations to Cameron Acevedo who won another 1st Place Ribbon (how many has she won, Nancy???)  Cameron is leading for the NSHA Year-end High Point Leadline Trophy ... We're all proud of you!  Lauren Wright, riding Jasper, showed in both 17 & Under Walk-Trot classes and was placed in both classes!  A wonderful accomplishment for both Lauren and Jasper.  A great first show for Lauren.  And MaryBeth won her first buckle and her first first in a Walk-Trot English Pleasure!  Congratulations to all and thanks to those of you who came out to watch and help.  It was a great show.  Last show of the year is Oct. 31/Nov. 1.  Let's get a big group out to cheer on Cameron!

The first-ever Red White and Blue Jeans Walk-Trot Spectacular was, in a word, spectacular!  We had 58 entrants and 199 judged entries.  Thank you, thank you to our judge Patty Romeo who was terrific, to Debbie Trevizo, who is our official photographer, and to our Horses for Heroes families who presented awards and competed in the horse show.  Also, a big thank you to the Centennial High School Naval JROTC (national award-winning) who volunteered as ring stewards and worked the In Gate.  Thank you to our sponsors who made this day possible:  WAL MART, SOUTH POINT HOTEL & CASINO, LAS VEGAS POLICE PROTECTIVE LEAGUE, AMERICAN LEGION, VFW, HOBBY HORSE CLOTHING COMPANY, BOW WOW MEOW PET GROOMING, FARNAM HORSE SUPPLY, COMMISSIONER LARRY BROWN, ED BERNSTEIN, DR. HUFF, AND EQUINE SUITES AND CONCIERGE.  

Horses for Heroes and the Diamond K Ranch hosted a wonderful service celebrating the short life of Brooke Ashleigh Alexander.  It was attended by more than 100 of the family's friends and was a beautiful, joyful and touching service.  Highlights included a "group hug," balloon release and a tree planting in Brooke's memory.  Thank you to the Horses for Heroes members who attended and to all who those who made this day special for the Alexander Family including Cox Communications, Steve 'n Kids, and Nevada Tents.
