Ice and Whales!
Icy Bay and Whale Bay make up the southwestern corner of Prince William Sound. In Icy Bay, the Sargent Ice Field discharges from two separate tidewater glaciers: Tiger and the mighty Chenega. The largest calvings I've seen are from the mile wide Chenega.
Whale Bay is located just north of where the Pacific Ocean mixes with Prince William Sound. Because of this rich two-way flushing, Humpbacks and Orcas commonly frequent the area.
Whale Bay's and Icy Bay's distant proximity from Whittier makes for one of the greatest wilderness destinations!
