Hello Streetwise from Padang, Indonesia.
I'm sorry I havent written for a few days but we have been very busy here and due to the earthquake, many internet facilities and cafes have been destroyed.
Our team is serving Jesus with all the strength, wisdom and insight He is giving us. God is doing a great work here in Padang.
Our team split up into two teams this morning and preached in two different churches. Pastor Rudy,Brian, Roy and our translator Donny, preached at GBI Tampak siring, JKT. They had an awesome service and blessed hundreds.
Bill and I preached at Gereja Bethel Indonesia and God rocked the place by His Spirit.
The church building was so damaged in the recent earthquake that people can not go into it. It will have to be torn down and rebuilt.
So, the church put together a "tent" of big blue awnings and we had church under the tent. I sang and preached and Bill preached... as the altar call was given, over 100 came forward to receive Jesus as Lord and Savior... and to be filled with His Spirit.
We were also able to give the church a generous offering to help rebuild. (The average person here makes about 3 us dollars per day) What a blessing to be able to preach at a church and GIVE an offering rather than to receive one.
Padang is 98 percent Muslim, but this amazing church keeps serving Jesus and winning souls, even after the earthquake.
Tomorrow, we will drive about 2 hours to Padang Pariaman, the hardest hit area during the earthquake. They have also had major mudslides and people have lost everything.
We will take them suitcases full of baby clothes and blankets, what supplies we can... most of all, we will take them Jesus! HE IS MORE THAN ENOUGH.
There is not even ONE Christian church in Padang Pariaman... the area is 100 percent muslim. We plan to let the Light of Jesus shine on the broken people and let Jesus bind up the brokenhearted.
Pray for us as we journey on. We have spent hours in prayer, fasting and communion together as a team, getting the mind of Christ and being sure we are filled with fresh infilling... so we can give out Living Water and the Bread of Life to the dry and desperate people in Padang Pariaman.
We love you all... on behalf of Brother Bill, Pastor Rudy, Brian, Roy, Donny and myself, we covet your prayers and thank you for supporting this amazing missions adventure with your love, prayers and financial support.
Indonesia has been shaken by the 7.6 magnitude earthquake... but it is being shaken even more by the Spirit of God that is giving the millioons of people a wake up call to come to Jesus... the ONLY Lord and Savior.
We love you,
Bobby
Streetwise MinistryOn our flight from Taipei to Jarkarta, as I walked on the plane, I heard a woman crying and wailing. She was sobbing uncontrollably. Wouldn't you know, Jesus had put me on her aisle. She was wailing.
I asked the flight attendant if she knew what was wrong and she told me the woman was on her way to Jakarta to see her dying grandmother but had just gotten word her grandmother had died. She kept crying. I walked over and took her hand and she looked startled, but squeezed my hand. She did not speak one word of English. I put may arm around her and held her as she cried aloud.
I reached down and whispered in her ear, "Jesus, Jesus, Jesus." Although she could not understand my words, the Lord spoke to me that comfort and love knows no boundaries. So I knew He was preparing a way for us in Jakarta.
.We arrived in Jakarta yesterday and hooked up with the Pastor Steve Laidlow here at Living Faith International Church. God divinely hooked us up with these beautiful saints.. The church has an amazing work here in Jakarta.
Last night, we participated in a church service and Brother Bill gave a word that fired up the church.
This morning, we ministered to a group of very young homeless street boys and our team prayed over them and fed them folded over pancakes and peanut butter. They are so precious.
Then we went and ministered in the slums of Jakarta. Our faithful team went under bridges down by the river and prayed with and ministered to many destitute families living in abject poverty and squalor under the roadway bridges. We had to duck down to walk around in their "squats." We gave them bags of baby clothes we brought over. Each bag had a scripture written on it in Indonesian.
Then we went directly to a leper community where we prayed over people and blessed them with love and prayer. Pastor asked a man with leprosy who had lost most of his fingers and part of his hand to the disease to pray for our team as we leave for Padang tomorrow.
I was so blessed and convicted to see this beautiful man who was living in the leper community, with his fingers and hands ravaged from the disease, lifting his hands and his voice in prayer and thanksgiving to God. WOW!
Again, we blessed the leper community with bags of baby clothes. Out under the bridge and even at the leper community are dozens and dozens of beautiful children and babies who need the love and miracle provision of Jesus.
We just finished conducting a miracle healing service, and tonight we are conducting a miracle youth rally. Our team is singing, preaching and laying hands on the sick. Many are being healed and set free.
We leave early in the morning for Padang. We have an interpreter who will join us... we have 200 Indonesian Bibles and hundreds of Indonesian tracts. We have had people throughout Jakarta thank us for coming to help their country... they say we are an answer to their prayers.
God is using the team mightily and we want to thank you for sending us to the desperate children and families here in Indonesia.
Tomorrow, we will have opportunity to work with earthquake families and we have made contact with a church in Padang we will be working with. Indonesia is 87 % Muslim and they have great opposition to the preaching of the Gospel... but we know God is with us. I will write you again as I can as internet is available. It may be harder to find in Padang.
God Bless you and thank you so much for sending us.. Please keep Dot and our teams families in your prayers. Thank you for supporting us with faithful and generous missions offerings that make it possible for us to GO.
