The reason for me wanting to have this informative web page available to you, and others is because I am a Survivor of Domestic Violence...I have been there, and I know what it is like to feel alone in this confusing world. I know that even though I may have had friends and family trying to help me, their comments really did not help me at all, because they have not honestly been there. When you are a person from the outside, it is easy to put in your comments, but you must go through that type of situation-To know how easy it really is not! Now that I have finally broken away from my abusive 4 year "relationship", I feel it is my turn to try and help others...And that is how I came about this website's name:

~Battered~

She thought he was her Knight and Shining Armor
As he thundered into her life, and swept her heart away
Caught up in a whirlwind of passion
Spellbound, and blinded by love,
She let him in...

Never had she felt so loved, needed, and cherished
She was enchanted, and consumed by their love
Blinded, it was so easy not to see it
The violent, twisted side of him
Just beneath the surface...

The bruises and swollen lips always quickly fade
But the words, cut, and wound so deeply
She is nothing - even less without him
She is bound to him, and his abuse
Taking all the blame...

Each and every day she spends living in fear
Both self-esteem, and dreams destroyed
But still, she loves him desperately
And life alone, without him
Is inconceiveable

For at times, though rare, he is still her Knight
Still tender, still passionate, and true
He promises things will change
Vows to never hurt her again
And so, she stays...

She doesn't recognize her own reflection in the mirror
Only the fear she feels, reflecting back in her eyes
Haunted eyes, and faded bruises, she cries
The tears again stream down her face
What has she become...

That was my past....
It was a very long, hard, struggle to break free of that relationship.
I actually let him back into my life about a dozen times...

Put him in jail, and than soon he would be back.
Things will get better, as he would tell me...

What was I thinking?

If you have never been through it~You'll never understand!

If you have~There's no need to explain!

If you are going through it now~Please, let me help you, help yourself!

Please don't wait until this happens to you!

And if it already has...You know it could be worse next time!

Please take a minute to atleast see what I have for you,
And know that there are many out there waiting, and willing to help you!
He/She says "I'm sorry, I will never do it again!".

Are you still wondering if the abuser honestly means what they say? Answer these questions.....How many times has the abuser said they were sorry, and did it again eventually?Just think of this! Eventually could mean: Days/Weeks/Months/Years later.....Also, what was the abusers excuse for hurting you?Remember this! Hurting isn't just Physical, it can also be many other ways like: Spiritual/Emotional/Mental/Neglect/Etc.

Keep in mind that:

People make mistakes, and some honestly change their ways.....
But, unfortunately there are many that won't (or) can't change, in their lifetime!
Hopefully this helps you answer your own questions, that you may have about your abuser! Or, if You Are The One Abusing - Please Seek Help, Now!
