What Devon had to say...

What Tori had to say...

All access with John Michael Montgomery!

I was very fortunate to have amazing friends who has been giving me freebies to enjoy life a little bit. Last Friday, March 30th; Me and 2 friends of mine hauled ourselves to Marksville,LA to watch John Michael Montgomery, a great American country singer who have had chart topping songs.  It was a great concert and got to meet the guy with beautiful and immortal songs.

Just sharing few pictures I have taken on the concert passed through the front rows, using my OLD Tiny Point and Shoot Canon Sx150 Camera.

P.S.  If you are looking for a nice point and shoot camera which you expect to meet your expectations both photos and videos, this camera will sure not disappoint you.

Winter Galavanting

While other states have been busy shoveling their pile of snow; Louisiana is busy putting up the raincoat and umbrella. Yes! The weather is crazy and its been raining like cats and dogs. (But, I love this state, cos its where the gumbo reigns while raining! lol)

I recently purchased new lenses and I was so excited to try them and snap pictures around the area. Because of my busy schedule as a nursing student and keeping up a house, doing my usual photography galavanting have been thrown to the side.  But yesterday, Friday; it wasn't a big exam day so I left the house extra early to snap some shots of the lovely Egrets by my school.
Just want to share this photo... (50 yrds away using  Canon EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS USM Lens)

On my way to school, there was this train who was just parked by the rail track. I thought its worth it to stop by even though its drizzling. lol.

Oh! btw, this next picture I'm going share to you is a daily view that has been callin me to take a moment and just snap.
This is an old water system for a rice field around highway 95 in Eunice. I thought its a great composition.

20,000 Miles, roundtrip.

Wow! I can't believe it has been since last August from my last entry in this little corner. To tell you why; Well I have been busy with school, and quite a bit of my part time job apart from snapping pictures for my clients several times each month. I just can't find the courage to write each and every client I had and write a photoblog about them because I only have 24 hrs each day. And to me, Its quite short... maybe a 25th hour would be nice. :)

Anyhow, What I am excited to share to you about is that I went home to my beautiful country; Philippines last December of 2011. I spend 15 days over there which was full of happiness, fun and tender memories me and my family made. It has been 25 months since I left home, left family, left friends, left my collection of shoes and bags, and sunglasses just for sake of love. :) My primary and sole reason for my trip is to see my family especially my very sick grandfather who has been having heart problems. I have been wanting to come home probably from Day 1 since my arrival in the states because it was very tough at first. But I think I'm gonna take my lick and suck it up. I have been pretty occupied now and I well adjusted so I don't feel homesick anymore.

This is Manila. The capital city of Philippines.

(Landscape shot)

This is where I spent most of  my bachelorette time, went to college, met the most amazing friends and of course, learned to go with the flow in the city's hustle and buzzle (wink*. Boy, it was such a nostalgic moment when I first landed at the airport. I could smell those moments which was nothing like how I am living now in America.

During my trip, I mainly stayed @ my grandparents house in the province which was  about 10-hr bus ride from Manila.  Who could imagine that after a 22 hr plane ride, I still have the guts to travel 10 hours more to get to my final destination? Viola! this girl. Right here!

To me, traveling by bus was one of the greatest experience if you want to have a little sight-seeing moment.  This picture right here....

..is a typical view you'll gonna see in that 10 hr drive to my grandpaw and maw's house.
We do have the Hawaii views! After all, the weather and climate is almost the same as Hawaii here in the Philippines.

Highlights of my trip were:

  • I got to see my family and my Mom's boyfriend who was one of her suitors even before she met my Dad. It's more of an unforgotten love, because after 26 yrs, they were together once again. Aww.

  • And most especially... I get to have a family portrait before something bad happens to my grandpa.  I love him and my grandma so much which happens to be the parents of my crazy, yet the most funniest mom I could ever asked for.

MEET US!

Oh, by the way.. that's my two beautiful sisters; Karen and Kathleen.

I love them too, though they drive crazy a lot of times.

:)

Thank you for joining me in my journey as I look back from my home, away from home.

Until next time.

The 2 week old and the 2 year old.

Well, as I have been enjoying my school break; One of my great classmate asked me if I can photograph her little girl Oceah and their 2 week old colt, Butterscotch. Without any hesitation, I said I would. We planned the day for our session which is today. And it couldn't be any more enjoyable taking pictures of little Oceah having so much fun around with this young colt in an open, green, and wide backyard.

On my way to their home, I have never appreciated such summery roads in the countryside. With my country music on the radio, singing in the tune Reba, I just thought it was a pleasant treat today.  It was past 9:30 when I arrived at their very "Western" decorated house. The yard surrounding their home is very calming. It just quiet, with few horses running around the yard; Its just very calming.

So we all drove to Ashley's uncle to take the pictures this time. I have meet Butterscotch and Angel. Wait!, was it Angel? Damn, I can't remember Butterscotch's mother. Anyhow, at first I was quite apprehensive to get even near to the horses but part of my job is to be very comfortable and engaged with any kind positive energy. That's my shakra on pulling things off at the end of every session.  Laughing

Look at Oceah before she becomes cranky. Isn't she adorable? It was only when the heat play its part on our session, but pretty much we got it.

One of the last favorite shots I took with Oceah is with her mom.  I am a big fan of stolen shots. It's because it's the time when you can capture really raw emotions and expressions from your subject. And the picture below is one.

I try as much as I can to make my subject do things differently from what they think I am trying to tell them to do.

It's because Ashley wanted more black in white pictures, I also thought on different positioning that I believe will work in Black and White pictures.

Above all, today was a great day. :))

The hippie met the Hottie

It's Thursday morning. Smiling With so much anticipation, my day started cloudy then it progressed and became rainy. I'm starting to think, Damn! My photo session with my friend Ashlyn and her lovey, Clark would be derailed. I let the rain enjoy half the day while I am in my Pharmacology class with so little hope that Mr. Sunshine would grant me a beautiful soft light I will be  needing at around 5 in the afternoon. 5 it is and I drove to Ashlyn's house and met her there and Clark. This first picture was taken at their backyard.  As much as I love country, when my shutter embrace this beautiful moment, I was completely blown away.

All through out the session, we were unstoppable. The camera loves these guys and I was just the slave snapping the pictures. Aside from that, we are having so much fun and cutting up a lot. All I can say was 1 liner phrase.. "LOVE IT!"

So after all the haul we did from one location to another, I finally brought them to the last destination I have in mind for the shoot. Noone would ever think that on that grassy side of the road where I often take to go to school would make a gorgeous picture like this below.

I used a simple wool blanket that I snagged from my mum in law's closet. I also use an empty wine bottle that I filled up with water and drops of Red food coloring liquid. Tada! I got a red wine. What more can make a cop's day than seeing 3 "teenager looking" people at the side of the road with an open liquor. (wink*, safe side baybay!). I also used a small stool which is newly varnished I bought from the flea market for on 2 bucks. Oh, let's not forget the fake lavender flower from dollar tree. Laughing

Above all, I had so much fun with them. You can just feel the love around them. And the pictures can speak for me. There's no doubt, I would do this again with them if there's a chance.
