Graduation Sunday

The 2012 High School graduates will be honored at the end of late service. Because of time restraints we celebrate in late service so we don’t have to rush our celebration.
Please wear your cap and gown to church.
Meet at the back of the church just before the recognition begins.
The Sunday school celebration will be on Sunday the during the Sunday school hour on the same day.
Mother’s Day Flowers
We will be handing out flowers to all female adults on Mother’s Day. This is our way to express how much we value not only mothers but all those ladies who are great Christian examples to us. I need helpers to hand out flowers after the early service and before and after late service on Sunday, May 13. Just meet me in the narthex.

Bake Sale
Sunday, May 20
ALL teens should bring baked goods, no cookies, on Saturday May 19 and leave them on the ping pong table in the teen building. The building should be open since it is day.
Teens are hosting a bake sale in the narthex today to help fund their summer mission trips. Please stop by and grab some delicious treats.
Summer Teen Bible Study
Summer Bible study will begin on Wednesday, June 6. Summer study for teens will meet in the teen building from to New confirmands through college are invitedGarage Sale Coming Up
Collection begins Friday, May 18 and continues until Friday, June 1. You can drop your items off in the teen building anytime the church is open. If you can’t or have larger items to donate, give us a call and we will try to pick it up. We will not take computers or computer equipment, large appliances, bicycles, or lawn mowers that do not work. Any items not sold at the garage sale will be donated to charity. Thanks for helping us. The garage sale is scheduled for Saturday, June 2.
Friday, June 1st is set up day. 6-9 p.m.
Sign up in Luther hall to work a shift on Friday and a shift on Saturday.

Wings Begins

Dinner is free for everyone on the first night and is served from 5:15 - 6:00 p.m.
Watch for more details in a mailing coming to your house soon.

Some things stay the same and some things will be different.
Start time: stays the same
End time: changes. We will end at this year. That is the same time as other programs.
Dinner: stays the same
Dinner cost: stays the same…sort of
To guarantee you will have dinner you must pre pay. If we have leftovers or no shows you can pay to eat for just that night. But there is no guarantee you will get food.
Bible study: changes. will teach the main lesson to everyone then we will break up into discussion groups. There will be a class for college age peeps. Or college teens can be used as discussion leaders.
Wings is a great opportunity for you to recharge your faith in the middle of the week.
You will get the most out of this program is you come on a consistent basis, participate in bible study and worship, and come with a good attitude.

Wings Food
We will run Wings dinner the same as last year. Here are some things to keep in mind:
§ You need to pay in advance.
§ If you don’t eat one night you still have to pay for that meal.
§ Be on time to eat unless you have work or athletics. I need to know in advance if we need to hold food for you.
§ You cannot go off-site to get food once you check in at Wings.
The first block of Wings meals is from August to December (13 weeks). The cost is $65 for meals.
EVERYONE will eat free on August 31st.
Please have meals paid by that night. Thanks.

Joplin Relief Trip
Saturday, August 20
Meet at church ready to head out at 6:00 a.m. We will return by 7:00 p.m. No cost for this trip. Wear long pants, bring work gloves, and wear closed toed shoes with a good sole. You must be signed up in advance so I know how many I need to transport. Just give Tracy a call or text.
Girl Night/Dude Day

Game Day and Cookout

Cost: $5.00 for lunch
Come on out and have some fun with your friends. We'll start with lunch then spend the afternoon hanging out and playing some games. This is our last event until after summer mission trips so be sure to attend.
I have several very important ministry opportunities that I need volunteers for. Please let me know on facebook or text or some way if you are interested. Talk to your parents to make sure it's ok with them. None of these opportunities are paid hours. It is simply you as a Christian answering God's call to serve. Here we go:
Thursday, June 2
Garage Sale pick up and cooking meals for members in need.
These are daytime hours. Probably 10-5ish. Bring $$ for lunch. You must be signed up, you can't just show up.
Thursday - Sunday morning June 9-12 (maybe home Sat night) Joplin Tornado Help
We will be working with Samaritians Purse in Joplin. cost would be for housing only. The amount of teens I can take will be determined by how many adults I can get to go. You must be signed up.
St. Louis Trip- Take clothing left from the garage sale to the seminary in St. Louis. Probably stay at the Rock overnight. Cost might be around $30 for food. Maybe less. Again transportation will determine how many I can take. Priority selection will be given to those who volunteer for the garage sale pick up and Joplin events. Must be signed up.
These are great opportunities to give your summer meaning!!!
Wings Seder Meal
Wednesday, April 13
All Wings teens are invited to participate in the Wings Seder Meal. Our meal will begin at 5:30 p.m. so please try to be on time. This is a special Passover celebration led by Pastor Spomer. Everyone will eat on this night so please bring $5.00 to help offset cost if you don't already pay to eat. You won't want to miss this event.

Meet at Immanuel at on Saturday, April 16.
Bring “poor man” camping stuff.
A cot with a fitted sheet to cover up with.

Trash bag to sit in on the way home.

Mud Day Adventure

Cost: $8.00 lunch, drinks, supplies
The Krahns are once again graciously allowing us to invade their home for an afternoon of muddy fun. You will need to know the following information is you are interested in participating in this event:
· You must be ready the night before the event. We will leave as soon as late church is out.
· Bring clothing to “mud” in that can be put in the trash. Seriously, your clothing will not come clean. Mud is dirty.
· You will need to bring a trash bag to sit in on the way home. If not, you will walk home from Porter.
· Bring a towel that can be thrown away after you use it.
Things to remember:
· Mud is dirty.
· White is transparent when wet.
· Undergarments will get dirty.
· Mud is dirty.
· Shoes are a good idea but also get muddy.
· Porter to is a long walk. Bring a trash bag to sit in on the way home.
Cookie Fundraiser Sunday, December 12
DROP YOUR COOKIES OFF AT THE CHURCH ON SATURDAY, DECEMBER 11 BETWEEN 10AND 11
All cookies must be homemade. No slice and bake please. We are charging a lot of money per dozen and people expect a good quality cookie.
This is a great way to get some extra money in your teen’s youth account.
Please bring 3 dozen cookies per teen account.
Wings White Elephant Gift Night
Wednesday, December 15
Bring a wrapped white elephant gift to Wings for our gift exchange.
(white elephant gift=a gift under $5.00 that would be somewhat fun to get. Ex. beef jerkey, snuggie, candy, etc.)
Trunk or Treat
Sunday, October 31
Get signed up now to participate in this year’s Trunk-or-Treat event.
Your car must be in place and ready for the carnival by 5:30 P.M.
Remember:
Ø You must be in friendly costumes.
Ø You must bring candy to hand out to the kids. (contact me if that is a problem.)
Ø You must be in your assigned spot at or before
Ø You must follow through with your commitment. If you said you would help then you need to show up.
You don’t have to have a car to participate. We will assign a parking space to you and you can decorate a lawn chair, wagon, toilet, etc.
YOU CANNOT JUST COME UP HERE AND HANG OUT THAT NIGHT. IF YOU’RE GOING TO BE HERE YOU NEED TO PARTICIPATE IN THE EVENT.
This is a great way for our teens to serve our church by providing fun for the children of Immanuel and the community.
Ropes Course Event![]()
Saturday, November 20 – Sunday, November 21
Cost: $40 includes: ropes course, transportation, food, lodging, and dinner at Eskimo Joes.
Registration deadline is October 31.
This will be a great opportunity for our teens (grades 7-12) to form the bonds that make a youth group strong. We will spend Saturday on the ropes course, dinner at Eskimo Joes, then bible study and group time in the evening. We will return to Immanuel in time for church.
Canned Food Scavenger Hunt
Sunday, October 17
ALC –4:00 p.m.
Bring a sack lunch
Meet in the teen building for an afternoon of fun and service. We’ll head out into the community (of course with adult supervision) and collect food to donate to Broken Arrow Neighbors. The catch is you will also be competing in a scavenger hunt with your group. The winning team will be awarded a spectacular prize.
Wells Fargo Night

Meet in the teen building. This is a great outside game of cowboys and Indians. Don’t worry about how to play…just show up.![]()
I have no idea what the boys did on Sunday night but I know the girls had a great time at Maurice's. We had a great turn out and tons of fun. I leaned that "elf" shoes do not look good with any outfit, that Kristen and Kourtney are twins, and that Sirrissa can get in a dress but not out of it. Check out the pics in the picture section.![]()
