The Indiana PTA delegation has returned from the
NPTA Convention in Memphis, TN. The Tennessee PTA did a fantastic job hosting a great convention! From workshops to business sessions, from effective guest speakers to fun together on Beale Street, everyone had GREAT time! Convention attendees took part in workshops like "Promoting Your PTA" and "How to Get More Dads Involved." We also took part in approving 5 resolutions dealing with such things as the negative effects of novelty lighters, as well as holding social hosts accountable when they provide underage youth with alcohol. Guest speakers like Tony and Lauren Dungy, Tichina Arnold, and Byron Garrett. It was a pleasure to hear their encouraging words as we continue to shape the future of Indiana's Youth!
Indiana PTA had many
great things happen at Convention! We were also very proud to represent Indiana as Tina Hartman and Barry Jones walked across the stage to accept an award for a membership growth in Indiana! With a 6.6% increase, we were 1 of only 7 states recognized. Just as exciting, our very own Dee Jones was elected to the National PTA Board of Directors! What a great accomplishment! The
Fort Wayne Area Council PTA was proud to represent Indiana PTA as they presented their
FBI (Fathers Being Involved) Program at the
Male Engagement Summit! Their efforts were mentioned in the nationwide
Parenting.com blog! And it was truly cool to see people from all over the country wearing the Council's FBI badges throughout the weekend!
