Disappearance
Well as you can see: It's been quite a while since I've actually posted anything in the journal section. This is because of a severe lack of time for me to actually go out and get any pictures taken. I have been doing a lot of photoshoot for clothes recently, though. Since studio shoots aren't exactly very time consuming, they're my only outlet for my passion for photography.
I will attempt to find time to go out and bring back some macro shots for those of you who still come and visit this seemingly abandoned photoblog, so please check back as much as you can. :)

Vanishing Heritage
Made a visit to the last kampong village left in Singapore while I still could since it's schedule to be razed soon to make way for future development.
A rather interesting place, albeit ridden with festering mosquitoes and queer looking objects strewn all over. It was an interesting visit for me and it felt like a completely different world. The feeling of being somewhere new felt kind of hostile and it made me very aware that being in Singapore for so long has imposed a false sense of security upon my life.
Kampong Buangkok is a great place to go to rediscover Singapore's heritage first hand, and you should do so before you never get the chance again.

Hey guys!
I'm sure many of you have noticed that my site has been rather stagnant lately.
Honestly, I can say it's due to the unfortunate fact that I've been rather busy with life and other stuff, coupled together with the fact that I'm kind of running out of things to shoot here in good ol' Singapore.
I'm trying my best to hone my photographic skills before this October, where something important's coming up!
I've been wandering back into the art of macro, something of which I seem to have lost my touch at, and thus I'm now practicing shooting the small things in life that are all around us that we always miss despite them always being there.
I promise that I will try to update this blog as frequently as possible, so remember to check back!

Tiresome
Have just uploaded the few nice pictures that I had managed to capture from today's outing to Changi Boardwalk.
Fortunately for us, it didn't rain. However, the day disappointed us by not bestowing upon us a beautiful sunset. Instead, we were greeted with an awfully dull colored, bland and unfulfilling dimming of colors from gray to grayer to orange to nothing.
If that wasn't enough, I have lost my tripod to a bus.
Until I get another tripod, I'm afraid you won't be seeing many new landscape photos because I tend to avoid shooting landscapes without a tripod!
Enjoy the newest album as much as you can with the few photos that I managed to get. Sorry!

Unfortunately - to much regret on my part - I had to cancel my shoot at town as promised because the X'mas season proved to be too much of a clutter on my schedule.
However, as you should have noticed by now, I have uploaded a few new studio-replica photos that I have made from home. As I have said before, I will always attempt to update as much as I can to prevent any of you guys from getting too bored from visiting my site!
Just an update - I have recently set up my own studio at home (without the expensive studio lighting gear of course) and made my own lightbox, so you should hope to see many, many more studio-like photos being uploaded in the short future.

As you can see, I've simplified and changed the look of the page around a bit to make things a little more accessible.

Reminiscence
I have just uploaded pictures from an 'almost' full-day photoshoot under the "Reminiscence" album.
Revisited some old sites to find things that I may have missed on my previous time there. As you can see, there are quite a lot more pictures than what I usually upload every time I go shooting; but I guess that's more of a good thing.

Desolation
As you can see for yourself, a new album has been added just recently to the site.
My photos are currently gravitating toward the photographic style of my idol, Tom Kirsch who enjoys shooting in run-down or locations that have been abandoned for ages.
This new album hails from the new 'supersecretlocation' that I've been raving about, and unfortunately, I only managed to wander around a quarter of the entire site due to harsh weather conditions and unfriendly lighting conditions which also explains the horrible amount of noise in most of my photos.
It's now almost 6:00AM and I'm dead tired.
I shall update this post tomorrow.

I will be visiting a rather interesting area probably tomorrow.
I'm quite excited about it despite it being quite isolated from the rest of the country and it's quite inaccessible to me since I don't have a car or a license.

Impromptu
I've just gotten home from an impromptu photoshoot in the Bugis area, and I have to say the results were pretty okay.
If I had more time to explore, I definitely would because there's just so much there hidden away from the main paths of that area.
My brain's not really functioning that well right now so I think I'll try editing this post tomorrow while I'm in school or something.

Inquisitive Minds
I've been getting queries from viewers and friends that frequent this site asking things like:
"Why do you post so little pictures whenever you go shooting even when it's a whole day affair?"
"Why do you have so little pictures even after being in photography for so long?"
"Your site needs more pictures!"
and so on..
My answer to all these questions and statements are - This is because I only put up the pictures that I deem to be the best of what I can do with my photography, not because I take very few photos whenever I go shooting.
Of course there are those few pictures that I'd rather keep for myself than sharing it with other people because of their value or whatnot, but I do my best to post whatever I can on this site! Really hope that you guys understand. :)
I am currently addicted to shooting sunrises and sunsets, so I'm probably going to be waking up at unearthly hours just so I can get breathtaking landscapes. Be sure to check back constantly to see new stuff that I've got!

Droopy Eyes and Draggy Feet
Awoken by the blaring sounds of Paul Gilbert shredding on his guitar from my handphone's preset alarm, I noticed that there was booming thunder and flashes of lightning. Not a very good sign for a full day of photography indeed. I dragged myself awake and looked out the window only to find nothing but a grayed out sky, blanketed by ominous sheets of thunderclouds.
I almost decided to postpone the shoot due the unfriendly weather conditions, but since Yiming had already left his home to meet up with me, I figured I might as well just take the risk and head on down to Punggol. If horrible weather wasn't bad enough, I took my cousin along with me for the ride - who incidentally got struck by a horrible stomach upset which almost caused us to miss the sunrise.
By the time we got the Punggol Beach, it was almost sunrise time but it was still drizzling quite heavily. I ended up sheltering my gear with my hoodie with the help of my intestinally-upset cousin while trying to get my shots for the day.
Unfortunately for us, our sunrise was blocked out completely by the clouds from the overcast day and we missed the opportunity for a proper sunrise despite forcing ourselves awake and having to have pandan cake and 2 packets of 3-in-1 coffee each. I did however, stumble upon a glorious scene with lights pouring out from the heavens through the clouds. It was quite something indeed. (Photo: Celestial Fury)
More unfortunate news however, was that Yiming wasn't feeling well by the time we got to the Botanical Gardens and we had to cut short our shoot lest he pass out and die or something more horrible than death.

Canon Photomarathon
Honestly, the results of the Photomarathon left me all flustered and furious at the judges' decisions. They obvious have a horrible eye for the arts - let alone for a nicely composed photo that leaves people with a strong impression.
Although I knew that my chances of winning the open category were one in a million, I felt that perhaps I might have been able to win at least third place. One of the winning shots for the theme "Freedom" involved a completely blurred out cat - that required all of us to take a 2nd look to figure out what the black 'ball' was - running out through a door frame slanted downward toward the left and a completely and horribly washed out background. Maybe now you'd believe me that the judges were completely inapt at what they're supposed to be doing?
We were given three assignments, and were allowed to go anywhere to shoot.
Assignment 1 was "Change".
Assignment 2 was "Dreams".
Assignment 3 was "Freedom".
Awfully vague, huh?
I had plenty of ideas in mind, I just didn't know where to go to get the shots! Unfortunately to Eneida, Darry and myself, we headed down to the Kallang National Stadium only to find it LOCKED! I suppose we should have seen it coming since it's private property, but I guess we were simply too caught up with the ideas in our heads for the perfect picture. The event's "base camp" was situated at the Suntec Convention Hall, and forced us to travel to and fro throughout the entire day which was a gruesome, and tedious task.
Honestly, I now think that I prefer shooting when given a time limit of a few days to conjure up an idea and then implement it in a photo. Something spontaneous like that doesn't really reflect on how well a photographer can really compose something because it's sometimes based on luck and one's connections and networking.

Kudos to Jai who unintentionally introduced to me this amazing website to jot down my thought and feelings about my journey through this amazing hobby we call photography!
Anyway, I've just posted all my recent and old images up here for visitors to view, and I hope you guys like them.
Gonna have a busy rest of the week, with the Canon Photomarathon competition coming up and a training session with Julian W - my mentor - at the Sony Digital Workshop down at Wisma Atria! And when I say training session, I don't mean me being trained, I mean I'm training other people! What a dream come true! I feel like I've really come a long way since I first started photography. Things sure passed pretty quickly.. almost like a blur.
