Isabella 16 months
So for all of you watching the video "Our Budding Mechanic" please note that she did not permanently damage herself at the end with the small screwdriver she was carrying around. I know many of you (including myself at the time) thought that she was going to impale herself, but she managed to avoid it that particular time. I just HAD to catch video of her traipsing around the garage pretending to screw things in to Gino's motorcycle. The funny part was that she had never really seen Gino work on anything mechanical in the garage, and the fact that she took to it like a fish in water was something that constituted documentation, even with the lethal tool she was carrying in her tiny hand. She is her father's daughter... that is for sure. So much like him in so many ways... it is cute! She LOVES being in the garage with Gino. She cries at the door if he is in there and she is not allowed in. He often listens to music while he is working on project out there and she just goes in and dances around while checking out what Gino is doing every now and then. I am sure the only reason she wants to be in there because it isn't exactly the most appropriate/safe place for a 16 month old to hang out, well and she wants to hang out with Daddy too. Things in there are far more interesting than things in the house. Anyway, enjoy the video. It is Isabella in true form for the most part. The babbling, dancing and tinkering are things she loves to do!
Time is flying...
Christmas is long over, and New Year's has come and gone, but our little girl keeps getting bigger and smarter. The other day she walked up to me, handed me my car keys, headed to the front door and tried to turn the knob to get out. As I walked in the other direction she fell to the ground in a major fit of emotion letting me know that I wasn't doing what she wanted me to do; which was leave the house. See, I generally take her to the park every day around 2 or 3 in the afternoon and it just happened to be 3:00pm. I suppose that she was trying to let me know that she was bored and needed to get out of the house in not so many words. It is amazing that even though they can't speak, they can act out what they want. I know.... I know... just another gushing mom talking about her uber smart baby... but what mom doesn't think their child is a genius!?
She LOVES other kids and lets them know by walking straight up to them, taking their toys, and quickly making them her own. Needless to say most aren't amused by this (except the parents of course), and I am not sure that she is going to make a lot of friends like that. Secretly I am proud of her for doing what she wants, but I also know this isn't quite the way to instill sharing. I usually try to remedy the situation by telling her to give the toy back, and that "sharing is good... blah blah blah..." and to give the other baby a hug. This usually puts the other child in a state of shock because she is severely invading their personal bubble, which is something that she does not yet possess.
Anyway, she is still as sweet as ever, but is more determined to let me know that she has wants and I better not ignore them. I guess this is about the time where tantrums elevate to near levels of her making herself sick... which is so fun for me to say the very least. It is sad, but I often find myself privately laughing because the sight of her flailing on the floor and gagging because I didn't give her my cell phone is truly a sight to behold. What more can I do? I want to give in and make her happy, but I guess I have to have some rules. I can't cave... I have to hold strong... so I just sit there and laugh inside... because otherwise I might find myself crying for her.
Oaky... well that is enough gushing for now. Love to all!
And then there were two... a week late!
Yes, a week late, which in pregnancy feels like an entire extra month!! As if being 40 weeks pregnant at the tail end of summer wasn't enough, I had to endure an extra week of discomfort, and 100+ degree weather here in sunny Sacramento! Already three days late, and at what I was hoping was my final doctors appointment they scheduled me to be induced at 7:00am on the 10th. 'Finally,' I thought to myself, the little fella inside my womb wasn't giving any indication whatsoever that he was even thinking about coming out to meet us. I felt like I just needed a light at the end of the tunnel of what felt like an already eternal pregnancy. Although it was amusing to see the look on stranger's faces when asked when the baby was due, and I would say 'today, yesterday, three days ago,' I was ready to have him in my arms and out of my body! I am a planner so it was nice to have an exact date and time of when to expect our second little bundle. I guess he had other plans though, already trying to keep mommy and daddy on their toes he decided he was coming on his own, ironically enough my water broke at 1:00am the day I was scheduled for induction. So, we headed straight to the hospital! On the way over I called mom (thankfully Isabella was already spending the night at her house) and one of my labor coaches Auntie Jennifer (one of several Auntie Jen's in the family) so she could be there for Bayliss's arrival. After checking in, two pokes for an IV, lots of pitocin, several hours of waiting, and a much needed epidural, we welcomed our handsome 7lb 7oz Bayliss Joseph Brunacini at 10:36am.
Oh, almost forgot; Bayliss is not a family name. We found it in a baby's names book, and it just so happens that Troy Bayliss was the 2001, 2006 and 2008 World Superbike champion, and for those of you who know that Gino and I like motorcycle racing know that naming our son after a motorcycle racer isn't too far fetched.
